Reds June 2024 thread

That usually means they score 1 or 0 runs the next game.

So...Austin Wynns. What a debut haha. 3 doubles in 5 at bats.

Obviously not sustainable. But a fun storyline.

I'm hoping Marte has a good game today. After a super fast start in game 1, he has gone 0 for 9 with 3 strikeouts in the last 2 games.

I think he's bouncing between extremes and will even out as he gets back into the game, but I'd like to see that evening out sooner than later.

Guess you forgot the Reds already trashed the Rockies in Colorado. Marlins are just as bad. Unless some major injuries happen that's 2 series wins for the Reds.

The reds are on pace for 0 runs today, typical for scoring 9 runs th game before.

This team is inconsistent and I would be surprised they get those 2 series wins.  after coming back from NY where they probably drop all the games.

Boy am I a good prophet, I saw this coming a mile away.

Now, 3 loses in a row in NY, will just about do in the Reds for this season.

Yea, but they are looking forward to playing the Reds, as we are their weakest team on their schedule.

Not until he reaches Marvin Lewis tenure and piss off the remaining Reds fans.

Rockies just lost a series to the worst team in baseball not to mention having only 12 wins on the road in 43 games. Please try again explaining why they would be licking their chops to play the Reds in Cincinnati? Facepalm

Runs scored for each game of every series
New series
Opponents have little scouting on a very young team
Reds surprise, but also reveal their weaknesses
Opponents pitching staff communicates with each other and makes adjustments
Reds hitters also learn, but much too slowly and way too late

137 in 26 game ones - 5.27 runs
105 in 26 game twos - 4.04 runs
92 in 25 game threes - 3.68 runs - 69 in 23 games, which is exactly 3 runs per game, if you omit @ the crappy White Sox and @ Colorado
4 in three game fours - 1.33 runs

Reds have their third winning calendar month-ish, but they're still overshadowed by the horrible May.

The AVG/OBP this season shows just how up and down these guys are.

Overall for the season:
India - .278 avg, .381 OBP (.380 avg, .454 OBP in June though)
EDLC - .252 avg, .342 OBP (.266 avg, .339 OBP in June)
Candle - .243 avg, .297 OBP (.290 avg, .302 OBP in June)
Steer - .241 avg, .333 OBP (.280 avg, .325 OBP in June)
Stephenson - .240 avg, .317 OBP (.221 avg, .303 OBP in June)

Reds got no one other than a hot India batting .300.
Reds need a few guys hitting .270+ consistently.
There are 45 players hitting .270+ on the year who have enough at-bats to be considered eligible, only one of which is a Red (India, and it's thanks to his June).
There are 74 players hitting .250+ on the year.

Best-case for the Reds looks to be hovering around .500, which is not good enough with the pitching they added.
I think most were expecting 45-50 wins by this point in the season for the Reds.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Patience has paid off!

Sorry for Party Rocking!
