Tate delivered today.

Come on man, just go ahead and get on the train. You know you want to.  Cool

Perhaps when Ross is in the next USFXL next season he'll throw in the towel ?

Who is this Ross you’re speaking of?

Which is Taylors and Callahans fault for not playing him more

No one is saying Tate is a Pro Bowler.

There was literally somebody in Gameday Thread saying Tate looked like young AJ today.

Some scrub WR with 10 times as many career TD's as Auden Tate.

One person. Trademark. And we all know how level headed he is in game day threads...lol

People do tend to overreact a lot here though.

“Gio>Mixon”

“Adeniji>Jonah”

“Tate looks like young AJ”

Etc

Yea that's crazy. Everybody knows Tate looks like a Darren Waller mixed with DK Metcalf.

Yet Ross only has 2 more yds despite having started 9 more games. I wonder if Tate could have closed that TD gap (at least a bit) if he had the same number of starts...

Speaking of Metcalf, I’m really glad we took the football god that is Drew Sample instead of him

Metcalf’s 161 yds and 2 TD’s yesterday are nothing compared to a couple nice blocks!

Tate had a great game . . . against the dime corner.

When he goes 7 for 7 facing the teams #1 corner that AJ has to face almost every snap, then I'll be impressed . . . until then, all that he's proven is that every once in awhile he's better than the opponents 4th CB.

Great game with some very impressive catches plus solid effort but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

How 1st down conversions did Tate have today? 4 or 5.
He could have cried and whined about not getting enough targets in
The offense. All.He did was put his head down and go to work.

Amazing it took ZT 8 weeks to.figure out what some of us seen dating back.to last year.

Tste is a.legit weapon in.this offense going foward.
Im.sure some of fhe anti.Tate club will bring uo his catch rate %
Or how he cant seperate

I have a new name for Auden:  "No Turf Tate", because the balls thrown to him don't hit the ground.  With Burrow's accuracy and Tate's catch radius and hands, it is a fantastic combination.  Tate had 7 receptions for 65 yards on 7 targets.

Fantastic effort by Tate.

And it was ZT that admitted in the post game presser that when he saw Tate only had 4 receptions that he had to "get him some balls" (no pun intended).  ZT went on to praise Tate for his work ethic, and his attitude describing how the guy always comes to work hard and does it with a smile on his face.  If that isn't a message to the whiny prima donnas on the team (not saying there are many), then I don't know what is.

Yea...that's false. He actually went up against Jonathan Joseph on almost every target he had yesterday, including when he climbed the ladder at the end of the 4th.

That's a nice try, but Ross only has 17 more targets for his career.  He also scores a TD every 12.3 targets.  Tate scores every 106 targets.  Any extended play time model favors Ross simply because he scores at a much higher rate.

That abysmal TD catch rate probably gives you the reason he isn't starting more.

Tate is a good #4-5 possession WR.  Great catch radius, great hands, makes some great effort plays to drag defenders and move the chains.  However, he has big holes in his game, too.

Right.  We don't want facts to get in the way of a good poo-poo on a player that made the most of an opportunity.

Here is the bottom line:  Tate has a special skill set.  His skill set isn't to stretch the field, or to take a slant 90 yards to the house, or to take a jet sweep and outrun LBs to the edge for a big play.  Tate has a great catch radius and hands.  And the Bengals have a QB that knows how to use a guy's strengths.  Tate isn't going to cost the team a fortune, either.  Call him a possession receiver or whatever you like, but if Tate is the third best receiving option on the field and he is a reliable chain-mover, I am very happy with that situation.

And calling him our third best receiver option might not be accurate when you consider the RBs and the on again/off again Drew Sample.

Burrow needs reliable targets, and he is reliable.  That is why he is on the field over Ross.

The only hole I see in Tate’s game is lack of speed. John Ross has grand canon size holes in his, including lack of effort, and not being able to consistently catch the football. Which is kind of important for a WR...

Tate is a football player, Ross is a track star.

Being fair, everyone that went up against J-Jo worked him.  He was dealing with an illness during the week and only played 58% of the defensive snaps, so it doesn't seem like he was 100%.
