Trump Announces Presidential Bid for 2024

It defies logic, but in Trump's case I'm open to the possibility that he's too stupid to know.  The only reason I somewhat doubt that he's not aware of Fuentes' views is the panic among his handlers when the story got out. People on his team full well know who Nick is.  Maybe they didn't think it was worth telling the boss?

Either Fuentes somehow managed to sneak his way into the compound of an ex US president unbeknownst to anyone but Kanye West (I actually just typed that), or DJT invited him.

One thing I do know is that if I were a Republican operative that wanted to keep Trump from torpedoing another election, sending batshit crazy Kanye with a white nationalist into to Mar-A-Lago for dinner with Trump would be a "creative" play for me to make.

Also, not for nothing, but it speaks to the insanity of our modern political world that a prominent black celebrity and an adult virgin of hispanic heritage are the current poster people of white supremacy.  Seriously, wtf is going on here?

Don't think of it as stupid...though he really is...but rather he is willing to ignore anything as long as the other person is showing hm attention and respect.  It doesn't who they are or what they stand for as long as they bow and kiss the ring.'

If they are truly awful people he will simply say he doesn't even know them.

And yet millions of people are going to vote for him.

Not to be a broken record, but you have to wonder here.  This seems like a thing that someone inside the GOP would orchestrate just to show Trump how badly things could go for him if he doesn't voluntarily stand down in the upcoming primary.  He had enough trouble running against the mean old liberal elite media.  Wait until he meets the hyenas that run the conservative rat-**** machine when it gets turned on him.

Gotta love how Trump openly hosts people he doesn't know in his inner sanctum where he safely stores top secret documents.

And as loathe as I am to believe anything Kanye says, I do like and believe the notion of Trump responding to Kanye announcing a presidential bid by going on a shit talking tirade about Kanye's ex.

We really seem to be staring down the barrel of Biden vs Trump part II, though a lot can happen in two years.  DeSantis is only 44 years old and he can say he's focused on being the governor of Florida rather than leaving office in order to run for a presidency when he can only be elected if Donald Trump allows him to do so.

Even if DeSantis wins in the primaries, which I'm not sure he could do versus Trump, Trump can always retaliate by running as a 3rd party or saying that DeSantis rigged the primaries and that people shouldn't vote for him, he's a RINO, and/or that people need to peacefully hang him, or something.

I will add that even though it is Biden and Trump again, I feel like we are back in the days before the 2016 election where democrats are sticking with a familiar, yet unpopular option and everyone is saying "Trump can't possibly be serious about this, can he?  Surely someone will step up and the GOP will come to their senses and nominate someone else, right?"

F*** it, march Hillary back out there. Let's go full Groundhog Day.

Surely the US can't be that stupid twice right?

Right?

The House Ways and Means Committee now has six years of Donald Trump's federal tax returns, ending a yearslong pursuit by Democrats to dig into one of the former president's most closely guarded personal details.

Has it only been 6 years of Trump promising he was going to release them himself any day now? Seems like it's been longer than that.

Right?

You know, if democrats and republicans really were the same we'd have someone like the guy who invented the Snuggie promising that Hillary would be rightfully installed as the president any day now, too.

A plea to Donald Trump to put party over himself? That is the definition of futile.

Even if Trump could be convinced that he isn't 1000x better than DeSantis, he still wouldn't admit it and step aside.

They say nothing is impossible, but this might be. I'm pretty sure Trump's idea of a compromise is to install him as the dictator of the USA for the rest of his life and possibly turn over the presidency to his family.

Oh, he's also demanding AZ install (his word for it, even) Kari Lake as the governor.  I'm pretty sure she's going to be his VP.

Now that I do not believe. I rather think he will once again choose a running mate that has some resemblance of conservative normalcy, one that panders to a more traditional voter base then his own one. Like when he chose Pence to get all the evangelicals. To give them one reason to think, yeah, this serial adulterer that is a mockery to every Christian belief imaginable is actually the one sent from God to save us, Pence is all the proof we need.

And imho that's how it will go again. Give the traditional conservatives, those mainly united by hating libs, one tiny reason to believe it will not be all that bad with him, and they will vote accordingly as most people always do. Trump is stupid in many ways, no doubt, but I doubt he's that stupid to put a second Trump person on the irrelevant, but symbolically important VP ticket.

Maybe, but Trump has the evangelicals by the balls doesn't he?  He doesn't need someone like Pence on the ticket because the mansion and private jet mega church pastors are still going to tell their flock that Trump is the most Jesus-ey person ever and democrats are the spawn of satan if not literal demons.

DeSantis may be able to out-Jesus Trump in the primaries,  but if Trump gets the nomination and he's up against Biden again I don't see why the evangelical and traditional GOPers would change their tune or stay home.

A lot people in the USA can't even look at a political race and see the GOP candidate as anything but the deeply religious candidate and the only choice for a Christian to make.  It's like...Christianity and the GOP both got into the same pod like in the movie The Fly and they are forever bonded in this monsterous singularity we see before us.

tl:dr - All Trump and Lake need to do is be more "religious" than the democrats, and I've literally heard republicans say that they aren't sure democrats can even get into heaven.

OK that might all be true. I did not necesarily mean Trump will choose someone just like Pence again, that indeed might not be necessary. I'd argue he will go for someone (at least amongst conservatives) less controversial again, a conservative fig leaf of sorts, as Pence was. Eg. someone not being Kari Lake or JD Vance or one of that crowd that is too similar to himself.

I don't think Trump has any intentions of getting back into power via any legitimate means, which makes me think that doubling up the crazy/conspiracy on the ticket is his best bet.  He's already seen how balancing his ticket with a semi-sane person in Pence foiled his plans the first time.

OK that admittedly seems like a valid perspective.

I still think it will go differently. But, sadly, time will probably tell us who's right.
