1. It's pretty obvious that the Bengals were a run-first team in 2009. Palmer only had 466 attempts, the lowest of any of his full seasons. For Chad to have 1047 yards and 9 TDs in that type of season was incredible really.
2. "Pre-'08" was 70% of Chad's career. If you count the 2009 season as a good one (most rational people would), then that's 80% of his career. Why are you so focused on the 10-20% where you perceive he quit? Aren't you the one who is always harping about people being negative and leading miserable lives?
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.
