I heard one person mention the word "gun".

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, stunned the nation this afternoon when he accidentally revealed to the nation that he was holding a “cheat sheet” of notes to help him through a listening session with the grieving families of mass shooting victims and the survivors of these atrocities.
Containing such helpful notes as “what would you most want me to know about your experience” and “I hear you,” the notes paint a picture of a man so devoid of an ability to empathize with others that he must be reminded to pretend that he feels the pain and heartbreak of people who have endured intensely traumatic experiences.
Time and time again, when faced with people who have undergone terrible suffering, Trump is unable to muster up any real emotion – like when he gave a thumbs up when visiting the victims of the Parkland, Florida school shootings, or when he told the victims of Hurricane Harvey to have a “great time”, or when he engaged in a public and despicable feud with the widow of a fallen Green Beret.
It is beyond embarrassing and reprehensible that we have somehow elected a leader that has to be publicly coached into showing emotion for people who have lost their kids in horrifying massacres.
Social media immediately erupted in mockery and in fury of our sociopathic president. Here’s a selection of the best responses.

To help him simulate human reactions, Trump's minders gave him a cheat sheet that prompted him to say things like "I hear you" during the WH listening session on the #Parkland shootings. [@AP Photo by Carolyn Kaster]
