Welcome Jermaine Burton!

Oh yeah, Burton has the talent to be a #1 WR which is insane when we already have Ja'Marr Chase and Tee this year. Tee is still a top #2
even if some argue with me and say he is a #1, this would be a better trio than the one with Boyd on it that was the best in the NFL. That is,
if Burton lives up to his talent. He is a deep threat unlike Boyd.

I would like to see Burton use some of his angry play as a WR and put it to blocking and we could have a very special player here.

Like I said, I can see why Zac was so ecstatic when we were able to nab this guy. Like you say Coach, he can track the ball like a mutha and
with Burrow throwing him balls right where he can only get it this could be just the right WR we needed to add.

Pretty exciting from this film study on Burton

Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

So many possibilities with this draft. Burton replaces Tee in ‘25. All becomes a great TE that doesn’t necessitate as much tipping off of the offense. Mims a long term great RT on a rookie deal helping the salary cap. Jenkins another starter at DT helping replace B J Hill eventually lightening the salary cap load. And… possibly the biggest steal in the draft Matt Lee. He’s got a legitimate chance to eventually start or be a great backup for the cheap.

Hopefully he makes it to rookie camp today.

I think the Bengals will be a playoff team this year.

Not disagreeing but do you really think burton has the skill set to be a legit number 1 in this league. Number 1’s in this league have set a high standard. I hope your right dude but idk if I see allll that. He’s def talented tho

Burton has it within his grasp to be a very good player and a very rich man. That is, if he can leave the off the field stuff behind and grow up to be a responsible adult man. I give him 50-50. He's either going to soar or flame out.

Nice hands. That wasn't the easiest first catch lol

That ball was on a rope way over his head. Didn't matter though with those hands, just snatched it out of the air. Smirk

I do. Honestly, I didn't think Burton was going to be around in the 3rd round and I didn't think we were going to take him in the 2nd with
our need for DT and the fact that Burton didn't block at all at Bama and had some character concerns. I thought he was off our list. But I
was wrong and they took him.

If you look at the player, he has great quickness, can run routes on the outside as a deep threat and can play on the inside if needed but
with Chase who is extremely dangerous in the Slot I expect Burton to have single coverage a lot on the outside and that is a major mismatch
as we see the numbers when in single coverage, he nearly always wins with his hands and ability to adjust to the ball in the air.

Burton won't be considered a #1 with Chase on the team but he could certainly be one IMO.

Sounds like it. Good first interview, I like the guy. Had some good things to say about Charlie Jones who I think was the biggest
disappointment as a rookie simply because of injury and not getting enough snaps. Iosivas was the one who surprised me in a good
way last year and if he works on his routes and hands could do some great things.

But honestly Jermaine is such a crisp route runner with great hands that he really makes it tough for these guys. Very polished as an
outside WR and has good speed and adjusts to the ball extremely well. Dude is tough and plays with a chip on his shoulder. I think
our WR room is upgraded big time with the Jermaine Burton addition.

I was surprised Burton fell to the 3rd round. After MHJ, Rome, Nabers he might be the 4th most talented WR in the entire class.

Thanks for the interview Holic, appreciate it.  Wink

Dan Hoard said he reminded him of a taller Steve Smith:

"He’s physical and uber competitive. When the ball is in the air, it belongs to him."

I can see that. I always thought Ja'Marr reminded me of that guy as well.

Now we got 2 Steve Smith Sr's lol. Really tough WR's that are extremely hard to tackle. These guys are little taller than Steve as Dan said,
but you can see the physicality, competitiveness and overall toughness as being very similar.

My only real gripe on the kid is his perceived lack of blocking. I've read in multiple articles how he was a slacker there. I certainly hope that's not going to be the case here, as our WRs have been unselfish and solid in that part of their respective games. We run a bunch of different screens, so blocking out there is crucial!

I like his skill set and his edge. I love his tracking ability and his soft hands, that super low drop rate is impressive when you consider how many of his catches were long balls. At just over 6' tall at that!

I've posted before how I believe this offense needed another speedster / quick twitch weapon to pair w Chase to REALLY make it scary and I think Burton may be that dude.
