Mims shows a lot of promise and moves very well for how big he is. OBj is a solid T who occasionally has trouble with speed rushers around the edge. I'm comfy with the Ts. Karras is good enough to get the job done for now. 

The HUGE question, still, is G. If they can simply be just below or at average, the line should be "good enough". And i mean "good enough" from a true performance standpoint, not "good enough" by Bengals brass standpoint. 

That's my story and i'm sticking to it.

the passing game at the very least can be. The Defense should be way better against the run at the very least with the players coming

You get the Guard play up to decent and everything should smooth out on the OL.

Think it through and perhaps you'll have the "aha" moment.

Posters recognize Mims was a 1st round, 17th overall pick. Posters recognize Brown was given a sizeable free agent deal. Posters understand those two are secured a starting spot for now, and whether or not they suck isn't in play during the conversations, it's about understanding how Mims and Brown were added with the goal to improve the T position. Posters are deciding to give attention to how the IOL is constructed for roster building.

The IOL is a 3rd round rookie and dudes who are likely just backups at best. It lends itself well to questioning, "That's the best the team could do?" Also, posting concerns about the IOL does not equate to people giving Mims and Brown a fair pass. That's just shit you're making up. It's not real, it's all make believe inner dialogue you're having with yourself.

If you're quite loyal to your own convictions about all this then oh well...

Yep. As with every single year since football was invented, the #1 concern is the "I" word.

That's why, hopefully, no one adds "no "I"word" in their predictions for upcomeing preseason games.

I have the same story. Spot on Rfaulk. We get Guard play decent and Orlando and Ted will look much better, who knows how much better Mims
could look. Mims balance, size, strength and smarts are tops for a young OL.

Yep. Mims was a rookie and OBJ played hurt. 

For those questioning why people are more concerned with G than tackle....Think about it, Joe is the franchise and we'd like it if he doesn't get killed back there. The C/OT spots did a much better job in pass pro.

Plus, here atcthe PFF grades for pass blocking last year, and the positionsl rank, pass snaps, sacks/hits/pressures.

1) Karras, C: 78.0, 7/64, 775, 2/6/23
2) OBJ: 69.5, 52/140, 441, 3/3/20 (played hurt)
3) Mims: 60.8, 80/140, 561, 4/5/33 (ditto)

4) Volson: 48.8, 97/136, 662, 6/10/43
5) Cappa: 39.7, 107/136, 774, 8/7/51
6) Ford: 50.2, 110/140, 466, 5/8/37

7) Patrick: 60.3, 79/136, 330, 0/0/10

Karras is very good in pass pro. OBJ is solid, at worst. And when he does get beat, it is almost always on the outside. If the inside of the pocket is clean, QB can just step up. Plus  he was obviously playing hurt last year. 

As was Mims. Who was one handed at the end. And a rookie to boot. 

And both guys were still 10/20 pts clear of Ford and Volson and 20/30 clear of Cappa. 

Patrick's numbers are decent, and the sacks/hits/pressure numbers fantastic. But the Saints are run first. And he is hurt a ton and is penalty prone.

This was a huge problem last year. Got Joe hurt one year. Lost a SB another. We cannot run in short yardage. And we go out and attack the problem with a mid round rookie and a bargin bin FA. And it looks like Ford is gonna start. 

And some on here are wondering why lots of posters are upset at G but not OT?
