Polian: Questioning Bengals playoff success "absurd"
Posted by: PlayerFormerlyKnownAsMousecop - 05-18-2015, 09:20 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (102)

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/nfl/bengals/2015/05/17/bengals-bill-polian/27479191/

This actually reminds me of a poll I posted back on the old message board, about whether or not it was necessarily relevant that the Bengals haven't won a playoff game in over 20 years.

Polian seems to agree with my opinion that being a consistent playoff contender is the most important step towards getting to and winning a Super Bowl.

Drafting for depth and building a powerful roster is the most effective way to build a team, IMHO. And with New England and Denver seemingly going through their own troubles with their quarterbacks and rosters our time may come sooner than later.

  Surprise cuts

Who do you think does not make the 53 man roster this year that may shock some people?

I'll go with Margus Hunt.

I think his age and lack of development and with MJ's return and the drafting of Hardison makes him a candidate.

Who do we keep after 2016?
Posted by: TommyBoy - 05-17-2015, 09:26 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (34)

I know this has been a discussion before but I was wondering who do we keep after this season? and who is gone? heres the list per ESPN.

Unrestricted*

WR Green,- No way he is gone if we dont sign him there is a serious reason

WR Mohamed Sanu - This one is a little tricky, I think he will be here with a small one year deal

WR Marvin Jones- Given his production before I think we keep him we have no other viable options at WR

OT Andre Smith- With the drafting of 2 OT's in the first round I think Oghbuei(SP) will take his spot

OT Whitworth- I dont know about him after his tweet, I know it was kind of tongue in cheek but we could possibly sign him to a one or 2 year deal, maybe to mentor the rookies. I wouldnt be upset if he goes, but I am a big fan of BigWhit

DE Wallace Gilberry- Hes probably gone if will clarke and Margus hunt show up

DT Brandon Thompson- He will prbably re-sign

LB Vincent Rey- Probably gone

LB Chris Carter- Probably gone, with dawson here

CB Hall- gone with dennard and kirkpatrick here

CB Adam Jones- see above

S Nelson- Maybe a one or two year deal

S Iloka- He will probably re-sign

Just my opinions on what is going to happen, what do you guys think? What are the projected spots we draft in the first and second round next year? what are our biggest need? Gimme some insight! (didnt list the restricted because they are pretty much PS players)

  Renovations at PBS

I was wondering what changes are taking place at PBS? I heard the video screens are being updated. What other updates are they working on for this year? I hope all the changes are positive ones. I guess sacrificing the message board on the Bengals website will help fund it. lol

  Dalton our Hasselbeck?
Posted by: GreenCornBengal - 05-17-2015, 01:38 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (41)

I was talking with my friend the other day who has been a lifelong Seattle fan, and we were making a comparison between Dalton and Hasselbeck. Both guys turned terrible franchises around into decent ones. I can remember a time when the Seahawks were much like us, they were constantly on the cusp of making the playoffs or losing in the wildcard round.

Hasselbeck one time said "We want the ball, we are going to score" after winning the coin toss in overtime. He then tossed a pick 6 to give the game away to the Packers, which is something I can almost envision happening to Dalton! Just imagine how the fans would react lol. Both guys have a knack for making boneheaded plays at bad moments.

In the end, Hasselbeck did get the team to the superbowl, which gives me a little faith in Dalton, even if the Seahawks did get screwed by the Steelers and Refs when they were there (something we are familiar with as well).

Both guys are average QBs, who helped struggling franchises, but still relied heavily on their teammates, and couldn't necessarily carry the team alone. Hasselbeck had Sean Alexander, and hopefully our Jeremy Hill will have similar success, for a longer period of time.

With both guys, it is tough to argue they are anything more than average, but have the capability of helping your team win consistently. In the end, with both guys, the conversations usually end with their hairstyle.

Does this give anyone hope that Dalton can pull it together, or should we move on and look for our Russel Wilson?

  MB on Cincy Jungle

I just read an article on CJ explaining that the Official MB was closing, how it cost money blah, blah, blah, and inviting us to join their MB.
Then I read some of their poster's remarks regarding our old board. I found it kind of humorous actually.
Glad to have our crew right here as it should be.
My apologies if there is already a thread regarding this.
