Chase not Practicing
(08-30-2024, 09:08 PM)Nicomo Cosca Wrote: Disagree about 22. He missed 4 games with the hip, plus the canceled Buffalo game. And still put up over 1k yards and 9 TD’s.

I believe only Adams and Evans have more TD’s than Chase’s 29 over the last 3 seasons. I know Jefferson doesn’t. Tyreek doesnt (they’re tied). Lamb doesn’t. Sun God doesn’t. Diggs doesn’t. Brown doesn’t. Just 2 guys unless I’m missing someone else.

Here the other problem I have. We all watch ball. Stop giving me #s. Chase has elite traits. Those don't come along to often. If the man wants paid we should all be on board with that. He is a true #1 who changes the offense for all involved. No more needs to be said let's not all make the same mistake the Bengals have made and underestimate the talent in front of our face and think we can easily replace that talent. I mean what Chase is asking and Jefferson got is less of a percentage of the cap than what Larry Fitzgerald got at 16mil per year in 2011.

Yep. This shit isn’t normal.

I know people have not agreed on this but 4yrs 160mil is really just under 32mil per year. I know people want to say that bending it to look how you want it. But lambs deal when you factor in his year left is 30.8 mil a year. So 4yrs 160 mil sounds crazy and looks crazy it's 40 mil per year. But in reality because it's 6yrs instead of 5yrs  is only 1milish? More than Lamb. I think the FO knows this and it's why the have agreed on the #s or so has been mentioned. It's got to be the guarantees that are hanging it up.

Yes. Shotout to Uzomah on the block on that play. But out running the defense is an elite trait.

Well then, I gotta say your analogy has no merit

This isn’t getting done, is it? Never thought it would go this far, but now I fully believe this is going to drag into the season.

They can right. They can potentially cut/trade a player or not pick up the 5th yr option. I'm not saying a player should have all say/control but they should have a say. If any level of player should be able to have a say Chase fits that mold. I do have a feeling we hear a deal this weekend.

My hope to everyone on this board is that each of you finds someone who loves you as much as Nicomo loves Chase.

I respect your choice of pronouns, even if I don't agree.

The ol' "playing in the NFL is a privilege", bit is your opinion, nothing more.  If it were truly a privilege, then why do the athletes get paid at all?  It is a career.  A job.  A dream job to many, sure.  But still a job.  And persons in a line of work deserve to be compensated fairly compared to their value to the organization they play for and the wages of their peers.

If he is in breach of contract, then the club is fully within their right to fine him, which would be made public due to league rules, the NFLPA, etc.  However, they have not, which indicates that the club has chosen to waive those rights thus far, which clubs do all the time.  A veteran rest day is technically a breach of contract per your definition.  It's actually very likely that the team have waived the right to have him actively participate as part of the negotiation process.  Hell, most people don't know that standard language is that the player is obligated to fully participate in preseason and All Star games, meaning everyone who skips the Pro Bowl or doesn't suit up for a preseason game is breaching their contract.  It's not a breach if the other party chooses to waive their rights.  If you deal with contracts, you should be well aware of that, as well.

Your argument makes zero sense.  A group of citizens created a sports league, which has been done numerous times.  They set their own rules.  They allowed the players of their league to have input on those rules.  That is not a cartel.  Calling it a cartel is just ignorant. Your socialistic views are shining through.

Just because the club MAY have not exercised their right to fine him does NOT mean he hasn't breached the contract, that is another ignorant take at a high level.  People violate contracts all the time, sometimes the harmed party takes action, sometimes they do not.  Your lack of knowledge regarding contracts is seriously, seriously lacking.

You simply do not know what you are talking about.

Love my Bengals but I don’t care lol. If he doesn’t play I will root for someone else to rise up. If they don’t then so be it. I don’t have to put a dime of my money toward the team in any way if I chose not to. I guess I am just getting old and I realize it doesn’t really affect my life that much. Not that I am saying anyone is wrong for debating who is right or wrong. That is a personal choice. However I will say it does suck. We have Burrow participating in training camp and healthy (hoping the wrist holds up) and now we have the Chase saga. That is why I kinda checked out and will tune back in for week 1. Who Dey 2024!! I mean Joe really should hoist the Lombardi in New Orleans. Sure would make for a great story ?

I mean, Chase is definitely special but at this moment I'd rather have AJ Green in his prime.

I do care because our chances of winning a superbowl are decreased without Chase out there. I would say they're also decreased without him practicing, our division is no cakewalk, losing to teams we shouldn't will hurt the playoff chances.

Also this has become a "story" the NFL will now track throughout the season. I wonder what other stories will pop-up along the way. lol. With the NFL it's always about the stories, who's able to generate some drama lol. If you don't have talent on the roster, can't create any drama, not worth money apparently lol
