This is on Zac, and if Pitcher was onboard with it he wont have to worry about taking the next step to HC any time soon.
This has to be fixed.
Inexcusable. This is what we were talking about all Offseason. We needed to see that Offense that played against the 49ers last season
that was unstoppable in their place against one of the toughest Defense's in football. I just don't understand, Burrow is healthy and the
reason we were in the Shotgun 100% of the time early last season was supposed be because of the calf.
What is the excuse now again in making sure we get off to another slow start?
Weird coaching by Zac. He likes us to lose early or something so we fight back later in the season and make a run at the entire thing.
Problem for me and most people is they HATE TO EVER LOSE. Especially fans that invest a ton of time and money into the team.

My theory is (and they will never admit this) is that the underestimated the Pats, played vanilla on offense, and saved a lot of wrinkles and schemes for the Chiefs. That is my hope, anyway.
Sure hope you are right Weezy.

The Bengals were in shotgun 44 of 51 plays Sunday, so 86%, close to average. I mean, Burrow and Hurts have been known to take 95% of the snaps from shotgun, so they are dialing back on it a bit.
I mean, it is a passing league and most teams operate from shotgun the vast majority of the time because it gives the QB and extra half second to throw, on average.
It’s also a matter of knowing your personnel, though. At least with Chase/Higgins/Boyd and a pass catching TE, with a healthy Burrow, you can make the case where playing almost exclusively from Shotgun makes sense.
Their personnel Sunday was not that. They had one guy in Chase that can consistently get open, and he probably wasn’t close to 100%. They had a QB that was very timid, and had no desire to hang onto the ball longer than 2 seconds.
The game plan should have been largely under center, running to the left side, play action off of that, and some screens to the backs, not the weak ass swing and check downs we were getting.

For sure I believe that is one of the underlying problems. As the old saying goes "they read the paper to much". They thought they could just go thru the motions and since "we're just better" it would fall in our laps.
Wake up call, that shouldn't have been needed.

Yes, I feel the same obviously. We definitely overlooked them which is always the biggest mistake in the NFL. They are an NFL team and if
you overlook any one of them you can easily lose no matter how good you are when you are on your game. Hoping it is like Weezy said and
we were just trying to barely scrape out a win so we didn't tip anything off to the Chiefs.
We sure didn't show anything good lmao!!!

Oh I hate this offense. Burrow needs to be under center like Rocky tying his left arm behind his back forcing himself to learn to fight right handed. By not doing so is the main reason this offense is stale, finesse, and predictable way more than it should be imo.

We had plenty of opportunities to win the game and failed to capitalize in those situations. Saying we didn't have an opportunity to win is a bit harsh.

Pats are going to win some games this year. Well coached, schemed, decent defense, decent run game, vet QB who can make some plays and take care of the ball.

Their defense is always tough. If they can get anything going on offense, they could surprise some people.

Not sure they overlooked them. Anybody can beat anybody in this league and, more so, anybody can play anybody a really close game. Hell, NE lost 6-7 one possession games a season ago. NE has a top run defense from a year ago and if you're playing a not-so-good running team then there you have it. You're forcing a team to beat you one-dimensional. Add in Chase who hasn't even really practiced, a dropped TD, a fumble on the goal line and a fumble on a PR, well, now you're in at least a 10-13 point swing even with what everyone is claiming was a terribly-coached game by Taylor.
I think anyone of us had they come away with a W after falling behind 10-0 would have commended their character and said "even with" the dropped TD (maybe a bad call? ), a fumble on the goal line and another fumble deep in their own territory and yet they still win that this team has moxy, toughness, etc.

Sure, they could have won, not my point, that was a total shit show and the offense is stagnant. We need so much better from coaches and players.

Zac's comments are causing many to say this...

That's just rhetoric, IMHO. Confident, yes, but no coach tells his team this prior to a game regardless how he's trying to get the point across. He knows how games go and how a team in this league can exploit you. Hell, NE made a great play on knocking the ball loose on Hudson.Had Cinci. done that we're talking about what a great heads-up play it was. Dropped TD was a very difficult catch and we see balls hit the ground weekly. Jones fumbling. I doubt any of these players were LOL and counting their $$$ on each play trying to cover the 17 points mentioned in the video.
Point beng that Cinci. has a total weakness in their run defense and it's not something new. You have a new CB that's not going to be all pro overnight or maybe never. They were not a good tackling team a year ago. These are things that even a weak team can exploit and make an opponent change course.

I can see an initial half-step forward by the LB but to be honest if that was truly a play-action then it was as bad a sell as possible. I don't think anybody is asking JB or any QB to sell the play-action like Boomer did but that was absolutely terrible.

We must run the ball more. And Im a guy that likes going empty and no huddle for a complete drive now and then.

I agree. Seems like every time they do get the run going ZT goes away from it. There have been several but the most frustrating game was 2 seasons ago in Baltimore on a Sunday night game Cinci. was dealing and playing as physical as I can remember and they try the goofy gadget end around play that went for a loss when they were gashing the Ravens on the ground.

Yep.Totally sniffed that play out. Those last 2 plays on that drive pissed me off as they had a 3rd and 2 and JB threw behind the TE although he still got both hands on the ball and should have caught it and then that gimmicky play that requires a lot of blocking, being out-manned against a team that was defending them downhill.
I was calling for 2 run plays on 3rd and 2 and, imo, that's a perfect time to fight back and play physical.

That's a good hope to have.
I'm on board with that.
