We do know they are improving if people will just look. Coming into the Ravens game teams were running the ball down out throats. The Bengals held Henry to 41 yds. on the ground in regulation. That's improvement.

You know as well as I that crazier shit has happened in this league.

Short of KC and Hou (5-0, 4-1), no one in the AFC is better than 3-2 right now. Huge hill to climb being last in the conference, but it is climbable if the defense stops sucking so hard.

Or maybe you're just a dummy...  :)

I don't see any great increase in our ability to create pressure which would probably limit what we can achieve on defense. But maybe we get some valuable playing time for Jenkins and Jackson and they prove to be key players going forward as well as DJ Turner who has been very close and looks to me to have taken a step forward.

The defense was bad yesterday and has been bad. But they kept continually making good plays they just couldn't string 3 together to save they're lives in the 2nd half. Lamar threw some ducks yesterday and the fact we couldn't make him pay for that is embarrassing.

How can there not be a great increase? Murphy has been hurt all season and just got healthy enough to play, same with Kris Jenkins,
McKinnley Jackson and Hubbard just barely started to look healthy. DJ Turner is young with elite speed and fluid hips. Getting Jordan
Battle back in there could really help at Safety.

You are correct, the Defense needs to string 3 good plays together is all, not like Lamar wasn't playing very good and when he is
playing very good everybody knows he is hard to stop especially when he is passing well out of the pocket.

I just find it laughable that people are saying this Defense cannot improve. They have been historically bad and have been beat up
and are extremely young. I find it much more likely they improve than continue to suck worse.

Back to the thread though, Chase is playing great and we should of paid the man what he wanted before the season. He will be more
spendy after this year is still my opinion.

Truth. If we can slow down the run the Defense can improve and we have been really banged up at DL. Let's see how the stealers D looks
like without Watt and Heyward...

The Chiefs without Chris Jones etc.

We literally had Tufele as our lone NT all season until now with McKinnley Jackson finally being able to play. Rankins sucked early but has
been hurt, Kris Jenkins has been hurt, BJ Hill has been hurt, Hubbard has been hurt, Trey has been hurt and I could go on.

Yes sir Rfaulk. It is doable and besides the one run in OT we just had Henry shut down in the running game. There are positives and
they are realistic. I find it much more unrealistic that the Defense just continues to suck this hard.

With a competent coach with adequate game management skills we would be 3-2 right now.

They can improve but they also need an external move to improve the defense. Which given the Bengals history is unlikely.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

Yes, if there is a problem I have with this team it is this. If we would finally make an outside move instead of treasuring our picks so
much it would be the true sign of this team turning the corner as a franchise. As far as the team on the field our Offense is playing
great right now and our Defense will have to get better with them getting healthier and the youth gaining experience.

I would love for the Bengals to go all in and offer the Browns a 1 for Myles Garett. We won't even offer a 4th for a quality DT. I dont think it's because of Tobin we have an owner/GM terrified of making trades.

Oh yeah, a 1 for Myles Garrett? I would do that in an instant, don't think the Browns would go for it though...

I wouldn't trade a thing for Garrett right now. He's got some nerve thing going on in his leg that could take him out of football. They haven't even figured out why yet.

If healthy it would almost be a no brainer.

I didn't say they couldn't or wouldn't improve. I said i don't see the pressure rate increasing significantly and that limits how much they can improve.

But yes Chase is proving why he needs paid. We should have paid him already but the Bengals are a bottom of the league FO. Just think if we had signed Bates before we tagged him or if we had signed Higgins after his 3rd season.

But he's not. He has Plantar Fasciiitis that for some weird reason they haven't figured out is causing numbness up his leg. (which tells me there's more coming to this story)
