FO Don't Overthink It!

It's a business and a cut throat one at that. Tag Tee again this offseason. He'll get over it as he has.

Make some tough roster calls if needed to make it happen. The Offense (even when struggling as it was last night, is night and day better with him). He may not be worth 25m, but he is to this team.

Tag him to at least trade him (back to that dream scenario), which I can see his value building back up if his season continues. We can't get nothing from losing him. But Tee means more to this Offense then the "he's a WR2" debate may indicate.

Yep. But, you could have Tee and Chase as free agents the following season.

This team has gone as far as it possibly can with the current ownership. They simply refuse to adjust to the current NFL way of spending and participating. My gut feel says that they HAVE signed top players to huge contracts and still no Lombardi's so what is the point of doing  things that way? They seem to be content with .500 or slightly above.

Sign Chase first. Tee can come after. He is a big part of the offense, but I wouldn't be opposed to signing a big defensive free agent instead of Higgins either.

Is Germaine better or worse than Jermaine?

Listen if the Bengals are not going to keep Tee Higgins then they have to spend their 1st round pick on a stud WR.

This coaching staff doesn't make it easy for our offense and Chase so they need that other WR threat (Higgins) to get Chase easier looks.

they dont have a legit 3rd option or a guy who can currently replace Tee next year. Dont give me this yoshi crap

I agree unless we see something out of Burton over the remainder of this season that gives some hope that he'll be a strong threat going forward opposite Chase.

And actually, I still want to see Burton, Higgins and Chase on the field together this year. Maybe its happened some but probably not much given injuries and Burton's playing time.

Burton was a healthy scratch last night.  It looks like we may have a bust on our hands.

Agreed.
Iosivas, in his current form, is a WR3/WR4 at best.
Iosivas has 189-3 through 6 games, Higgins has 259-2 through just 4.
Iosivas wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire the first couple games while Higgins was out either, so it's not due to lack of targets.
In fact, Iosivas has performed better production-wise since Higgins came back, so he's benefitting from the extra coverage focus on Higgins and Chase.

I personally think there should be quite a few dudes hitting FA that could be solid outside WR2's who won't command $10+ mill if the Bengals choose to not drop yet another early draft pick on a WR.

One guy I would be game for adding is someone we saw last night - Darius Slayton
Currently making $6 mill APY and has put up 700+ yards 4 of his 5 previous seasons and at 301 yards through 6 games this season.
He'll also be turning 28 in the offseason, so a 2-year deal for like $7-8 mill APY could be perfect.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

There is nobody who can fill tee’s shoes in free agency. They have to learn how to run the ball more effectively, and they’re gonna need more tight end production. Those 2 are obvious for next year

At the time, Higgins was asking 22-25 AAPY. FO did not sign him. They could have traded Tee last year. But most remember Tobin statements of not make others better. So, my guess, they let Higgins walk after this year. They will draft another WR rounds 1-3.

I am for it, don't know if Tee would be happy about it though. After the way Tee has been playing I would be sad to see him go.

Agree with others of course that Ja'Marr needs to be the priority and Yoshi is not the Tee replacement, we will see with Jermaine
Burton. When called upon I bet he shines, he is really talented.

Much too early for that. I was as against the pick as anyone. I wanted Roman Wilson if we were going WR there, but he hasn't done anything either.

I appreciated Burton's talent but hated his attitude. Hopefully the Bengals "tough love" will take hold.

From being quite as good at a fraction of the cost, I agree.

But I also don't think the Bengals HAVE to have a 1000+ yard WR to be WR2.
They can get a dude who will get 700-800 yards and then distribute more to WR3, TE, and/or RB to help balance it out.

yea and I mentioned that. They might have to change their scheme next season. if your wr2 is gonna be worse, the other areas will have to improve

I'm really stumped as to why the coaching staff isn't giving him a chance.  What is it?  They were so ecstatic when they drafted Burton.

Or maybe they gave him a chance and he didn't take it and run.  I just wonder what it is.  It seems like talent that's going to waste.

There isn't much opportunity now that Higgins is back.
From my understanding, he needs improvements in his routes, and he's mainly (or exclusively) an outside-only guy.
He might not have been put at other spots other than Chase's, who he is backing up right now.
The only option may be to put Chase in the slot sometimes to give Burton some snaps outside.

I'm not a X and O's type guy, but it would seem to me with the way defenses is double teaming Chase, you find a way to get Burton involved.  Chase, Higgins and Burton would seem to cause defenses problems to me.
