A positive - Chase Brown

Just saw the initial PFF scores for Volson and Cappa on the other thread. Makes me want to puke.

I really enjoyed watching Cappa get stiff armed into next week today lol

Chase Brown is awesome.  Please feed him a competent offensive running system next season and a few new OL on the inside.  He could be GREAT and take tons of pressure off Burrow.  Maybe Joe can stop taking 10+ hits a game.

Chase Brown now >1250 yards from scrimmage with 2 games to go.
If he plays very well, he can surpass 1500, but regardless he's done very, very well given he was playing more in a RBBC role for nearly the first half of the season.

CB is now 12th among RBs in YFS, 1 yard ahead of Joe Mixon.
He is 16th in rushing yards, but the only guys who have the same or fewer rushing attempts than CB (209) with more rushing yards are Gibbs (same) and James Cook (182).

Based on what I have seen this year, I am comfortable going into next year with CB as RB1 and either Moss, Herbert, or a drafted RB as RB2. Herbert would have to re-sign for him to get that role though.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Chase Brown is just so much more consistent than Mixon. Hits the hole fast every time and had 91 yards against the Browns good run
Defense on only 13 carries. Very impressive. I agree, I am fine with CB as RB1 next year, I want to bring back Herbert and add another
RB that is physical though.

Love Chase Brown. He's the perfect back for this offense. He gets up to full speed quickly, runs downhill, not exactly a one cut runner because he's elusive but he reminds me of that type of back because he finds the opening and just runs, and, maybe most importantly, he has Burrow's confidence, which is huge because Burrow knows that he doesn't have to do it all himself.

We got a steal in Brown!

Imagine if we have good Guard play from the IOL?

This dude could lead the league in yards and TD's no problem and yes, he was a steal in the 5th round...

Said so at the time, but he has improved a ton since his Illinois days especially in catching the ball out of the backfield. He needs to work on
his cuts though, that is about my only critique of him, he needs to learn to cut back into a hole and follow his WR/TE's blocking better.

Also, I thought Chase Brown would get stopped in short yardage more than he has where he has actually been pretty damn good.

All good points, especially the guard play.

I agree about following his WRs/TEs blocking better because it looks like sometimes it looks like he has a touchdown in the open field but he cuts the wrong way and runs into where they're blocking the defender. I do think he's pretty good at following the linemen's blocks and waiting for the holes to develop and then exploding through them. Just me though.

I think he's going to be great for this offense because, like I said, he has gained Burrow's trust and Burrow's going to know that Brown can break big plays from the runs, so Burrow doesn't have to make the big plays in the pass game, and they'll play off each other.

Chase Brown is feasting, as the offense is worried about Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee.

The Bengals have an opportunity to turn into a running back factory, like Denver in the mid 90's, if the trend continues.

Not that I do not love what Brown is doing, or what he gives to the team.

Is it wrong to be concerned that the Bengals will resume splitting carries next season when Moss is back? It just seems such a Bengal thing to do with a mid back like Moss to split carries.

I don't think Burrow would let that happen.

Moss will still see some work, but nothing major to take anything away from Brown.

If the Bengals draft correctly, they can fix the OL with a pair of mid-late round picks. It just seems that we don't have any talent evaluators that can identify who they are looking for. Since Mims appears to be a pick that will live, and potentially develop into a monster, why not retool RG and C in one draft?  The Wide Zone would be perfectly viable on the Right side, go after a competent LG like Dalton Risner in FA and call it a day.

Who, you might ask? There are plenty of them out there, but Jared Wilson C UGA, and Luke Kandra RG UC are two perfect examples.

Nice post Sunset.

If we could hit on a RG and Center in the Draft or Matt Lee becomes an answer while adding Risner great things could be ahead for this Offense.

We are already seeing great things in spite of poor OL play for the most part. If we had an IOL that could run block Chase Brown would be having
a record breaking season. Heck, he is already way better than what we saw from Mixon here as far as consistency in hitting holes without hesitancy.

May as well go get James Daniels in FA for one of the OL spots.
He's perfect for a wide zone.
He can also play any IOL spot.

I'd rather aim higher than Risner and a late round rookie. With all the holes on D, I cannot see using 2 picks, of our 6, on IOL. Though there is decent value late.

Go after Smith, Jenkins, Zeitler, Daniels, and Fries. Try to land at least 1. I love Donovan Jackson in Rd2 if we only get 1.

I went with Risner as a FA pick for a couple of reasons, he's a good pass blocker and he'll likely be more affordable than some of the other options out there. With a huge Jamarr Chase contract on the horizon, and extension for Hendrickson, BJ Hill, Mike Hilton and a few other current Bengals to possibly re-sign, I don't see the team making a huge investment in outside free agents. Not to mention the big hole at WR2 that will exist when Higgins hits the market, I'd say that they'll likely sign a veteran to a value contract as they try to replace via the draft.
