Facemask Penalty to become reviewable
#41
Good move imo. Weird it wasn’t always challengable to me. Also agree it shouldn’t be missed on a QB especially, there’s a guy right there watching specifically for QB roughing shit.

BS

With the penalty for players being a one year suspension for gambling on NFL games and two years if they gamble on their own team's games, the idea that the NFL officials are gambling on games just seems a little bit 'tin foil hattish'

(This of course is after your tin foil hat attempt to derail the thread from its original intent)

You pointed out the penalties for players as a reason they would tend not to gamble, as it's not worth it to them. The referees making vastly less have more incentive.

You say "BS", yet your line of posting continues to show that the rabbit ears on your tin foil hat only continue to grow..

Whatever dude, you just go live in your little world where no one is tempted to do things they are not allowed to do for profit and officials clearly looking at fouls and not calling them are just "missing them".

You didn’t read what I said fully. Sunset didn’t bring up gambling until you did. This is why I said his “quoted” post. You’re the one who brought up gambling and independently said the refs aren’t paid well. No one in this thread gave you reason to do so. You just did.

My OP was just meant as a jab but you’re being uber defensive about all this.

No need for the "whatever dude", I made a thread about uncalled facemasking. You attempted to turn it into a moratorium on officials gambling and profiting from dictating the outcome of games.

They are not full-time and not really paid that great, so the temptation for them to bet on a game they can somewhat control has to be great. No one can tell me they legit missed that many facemasks on Burrow. It would be different if it were a running back or receiver having their mask grabbed, but you are not even allowed to touch a QB's head. No way you miss that. Yeah, they ignored them on purpose and I suspect it has to do with money.

I agree and I do believe the Bengals would have quite possibly been in the playoffs had the refs not ignored blatant face masks but, it is what it is.

Yeah right. You wrote this....

Quote:What's puzzling to me is given how severe and blatant some of those facemask pulls and twists were, how did they go uncalled in the first place?

And I offered MY OPINION of why it occurs, to which you made the tinfoil hat remark. But I don't expect anything different from you anymore.

In the moment it seemed more like you were stating that was the reason. And the way you followed up with all of that mob nonsense, it really seemed like you were wholeheartedly in on that being the reason. No matter what the reason actually is, I just hope that the NFL gets it solved, and quickly.

The Mob stuff was not nonsense, it is a clear example of how easily it can happen.

This might have been mentioned, but what's going to constitute a facemask penalty? Just a hand on it or does it either have to be a grip or a moving of the facemask?

I'm happy about this because it's pretty black and white, with not much left to personal interpretation, but one of those things that's like "too little, too late" for us.

I guess you weren't alive during the Boston College deal, or do you think that's an isolated incident, because it's not. But naw.... the NFL refs have too much integrity for such a thing to occur.....

Everyone celebrating this because of Burrow and talking about rules being made because of us getting screwed over by no-calls, remember that it's not just facemasks on the QB that can be reviewed....

...our only TD in the 2nd half of the SB (and the only reason we ever had a lead in that game), and 75 of our net 226 passing yards.

A face mask review depends. If Mahomes, if the defenders hand comes within 6" of his facemask, it is a facemask penalty.

If it is Joe Burrow, the defender needs to rip the helmet off of his head by the facemask.  Ninja the review will be conducted by Steelers fans Stevie Wonder and confirmed by Snoop Dog for Bengals games.

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.
