I have a plan. It stinks because Tee Higgins is probably my favorite Bengal. Tag Tee and trade him to Cleveland for Garrett, with maybe a draft pick or two.
We can get Cooper Kupp for a bag of donuts, because Rams want to trade him as a cap casualty. He would be great patrolling the middle of the field and moving the chains and would be a great WR2 to Chase.
Kupp is older but cheaper than Tee ($20 million per year), but is not as good. I realize that. However, knowing Mike and Katie, I just don't think that it is feasible financially to keep Tee and Jamar. We can use the money we save on Tee's extension, $30 million per year at least and apply toward Garrett's salary. Plus, we have ample cap space available. Draft another WR and DT and hopefully sign a couple guards in free agency.
Just like that, the pass rush is fixed. Super Bowl bound.
I haven't been taking Meth today I promise. Lol. But with all the trades going around, why not us? We have to stop thinking 10 years down the road and think about our Super Bowl window or Joe will become another Carson.
Thoughts?

I was getting on here to start a Kupp thread.
I thought we should sign him when I first saw it but now I'm not sure.
He's the best possession receiver in the league and would kill it opposite of Chase, but he's only played 12 games the past two seasons and nine the year before that. Given our luck, I think we'd be resting our hopes on a prayer and it could waste our potential to get a receiver that we can count on to be out there.
If we could get him to sign for a team friendly deal, I'd potentially be interested and it would make sense for him because he'd get paid big this year and then he'd have a very good opportunity to win another ring(s) here, which is likely more important to him at this point in his career.
Like you said, Tee's not going to be worth the money he'll command, so go get Kupp and get ready for the Super Bowl.

Garrett is probably nothing but a pipe dream, but I think the dude wants to win more than he cares about the money. We should at least kick the tires on a Kupp deal.

Pass, I just can't see a career 30+ y/o player from a warm weather division with an injury history being able to stand up to the pounding of all the cold weather games of the AFCN. A much better fit would be Darius Slayton of the Giants. His market value is listed as $15.9M, so just more than half of what Higgins has been predicted to sign for.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Nice pull. Slayton would be awesome in stripes and financially manageable.

calling cooper kupp a warm weather receiver is maybe the most disrespectful thing I have read in the last month lol

Cleveland is having cap troubles as-is with a -$27m cap number right now for 2025. There's no way they take on a $26m franchise tag. Also that draft pick or two would not be a maybe and would probably have to be our 1st and 3rd.

I liked your thoughts Boomer and would be all for it, but looks like it is unrealistic with how much the Stains can take on and I don't
think they will trade Myles to anyone in the Division. Also, I like Sunset's thoughts on Slayton better than Kupp. Maybe there are other
ways to go, in trades. I enjoy these threads. Maybe trading Tee to the Giants for Slayton or something while adding an End from them?

I can't see the Browns trading Garrett to a division rival, not can I see the Bengals moving Tee to a division rival. I also don't think a tag and trade is really all that viable, especially for a guy coming of back to back sub 1k yard seasons.
That said, Kupp is an interesting option. While giving up a draft pick sucks, the good news is the vast bulk of his guaranteed money has been paid already, meaning relatively little needs to go to escrow.

If the Bengals trade for a receiver, I would lean towards trading for Kyle Pitts over Kupp.
Pitts is younger, a great mismatch, will not break the bank, and is healthier option than Kupp.
I would rather see the Bengals replace Tee with a good TE versus a good WR. Luckily there a several who may be free agents, like Tyler Conklin and Zach Ertz.

We only have six draft picks so if Tee walks I can’t see us giving up any pick of significance to the Rams for Kupp in a stand alone deal not the one the OP mentioned. If Tee walks I’d be interested to see how they spend his money. I don’t love this free agency class. Would they spend big on guards or Milton Williams ? We would need a WR 2 , two guards ,a starting TE , backup RB , DE , DT and maybe a safety.

Feasibly, they should be able to afford a WR like Slayton and Kyle Pitts for the same or less as Tee Higgins, and maybe even have a few $$ left to throw toward a Guard.

On the Pat MacAfee Show this morning, they were showing after the trade were to go through, the new team would have to pay ~$19 mill in cap ($5 mill guaranteed) for 2025, ~$20 mill in cap (none guaranteed) for 2026.
So it's not "a bag of donuts."
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Are we the same person? lol
I would be (more than) happy with Slayton+Pitts.

Cooper plays less than Tee doesn’t he? Don’t like it. Garrett would be awesome but can’t see that happening either unfortunately.

I could care less about Kupp, Myles Garrett is the superbowl maker. He'll probably go to Washington though, they don't need much help.
