Tee’s market price (Update: 3 March 25, Tee has been tagged again)
(Yesterday, 06:36 PM)TheLeonardLeap Wrote: It's nice to rewrite history, but the Browns so vastly overpaid Zeitler that they traded him 2 years later and the team that traded for him cut him 2 years after that rather than pay him the end of the contract. Until last year (playing between an All-Pro and a Second Team All-Pro) he had never been as good as he was here, and that was only just pretty good not even very good, let alone great.

Zeitler was an above average player who became the highest paid guard in all of football. I will never feel bad about not signing him to that deal.

I agree.  Zeitler wasnt worth the contract the Browns gave him.  Zeitler is the BJ Hill equivalent of an offensive lineman.  A good, above average lineman but not great and certainly never elite.

Well, I don't think any team will give him an offer if it would cost them 2 first round picks is what I am saying...

Sorry must of misunderstood you.  Yes I don't think any team is going to make him an offer and give up 2 firsts if the Bengals don't match.  But that doesn't make him unable to be traded.    He can still be traded to a team for whatever.  Examples 2nd round pick plus a player, or a 1st pick, or a 3rd round pick plus a year of Skyline Chili for the team cafeteria, etc.. If the bengals hit on some draft picks since Chase and Tee there would be an argument not to sign both of them.

But they haven’t. There aren’t any young players up for contracts soon that have anywhere close to Tee’s value.

Okay, guess that is an out so he can be traded, thanks George. Smirk

Actually liked TLL's trade thought in Brad's Mayer thread.

Yeah sorry I realized I made a typo in my first reply to you and posted non-exclusive "trade" instead of "tag".  Edited that earlier post. Sorry for the confusion.

If Higgins saw 130+ targets, he would be on pace, or more likely shatter green.

No season where green had under 130 targets, yet still more targets than tee, was he any more productive.

Both really good WRs

And if AJ had Burrow at QB instead of Dalton he would have had multiple 1st team All Pro’s. See, we can all throw out “if's.”

AJ>>>Tee

The qb bump is rarely true, and it’s not as if dalton was horrible. WRs with much worse QBs, go play with better QBs and the difference in statistics is marginal if any.

I'm not reading the endless posts on this on Tuesday morning, and I just don't have the time.  So it may already have been said that Duke Tobin who is like a GM, says his goal is to sign Tee Higgins long term and always has been his goal.  I point this out for all the internet world saying Bengals tagged him to trade him.  Semi-GM Tobin says No, they intend to sign both Higgins and Chase long term to go with Burrow as their main strength in winning ball games.  It will take a lot of cap money, but if they can have Burrow, Chase and Higgins signed long term and come up with Blocking and Defense, and a running game, Bengals will be tough.

So the plan is to sign Chase and Higgins long term this off season, per Tobin as kind of a GM.  That's going to take so much money, they may want to avoid expensive free agent market this year, as they will need that money to long term both Chase and Higgins with Burrow already an expensive long term.  Those 3 long term will be the face on the Bengals, and what they pin their Super Bowl Hopes on.  Often Draft players don't cost as much as Free Agency players, so Bengals may have to look to players out of college to fix the awful Defense.  Without a better Defense, Burrow Chase Higgins will still lose. Of course I want Bengals to Win. I've had too many years of watching Bengals lose since 1968 to 2024.  So hopefully in keeping The Big 3, they can find salary cap to have Defense, Blocking, and Run Game. The Bengals would be set on passing game, they could focus entire Draft on Defense, since they have had one of worst Defenses in NFL last 2 seasons. Bengals give up too many points to Win, and we all know that. Hopefully Golden can improve on that as D Coach.

Tee Higgins is going to get what 25-26 million tagged..Hes going to make 40 plus million dollars for two seasons of football..I dont feel bad for the guy..He will be fine whatever the Bengals decide to do and Joe , Chase and Burrow will continue to be best of friends... But..and I dont want to upset one poster....I will not comment on the Higgins situation again..Time to focus on the offensive, defensive lines .

In which regard? Please extrapolate.

tee aint on AJ's level. AJ is a borderline hall of famer. Tee is just a top 20 WR.

its the difference between a Chad Johnson and a Darrell Jackson

AJ isn’t close to a hall of famer, unless you think Desean Jackson’s, mushin Muhammad and other’s of that caliber are.

I knew youd ignore the point.

It's like comparing Chad Johnson to Darrell Jackson. Tee is not on AJ's level. Youre on crack if you think so

Yeah, Dalton wasn’t relevant at all to someone bringing up AJ. LOL
