Sunset, for some reason I don't see Patrick as much of an upgrade to Volson. Hopefully I'm wrong

Patrick is a very solid backup. He's someone you can trust to come in and give you solid, competent play. I still expect another veteran Guard plus a high draft pick. Also remember they talked to OL at the combine such as Conerly and Zabel. They clearly expect to go OL early.

Yeah, just hopefully not at #17. Too many better defenders at that spot, compared to IOL. ![]() Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations -Frank Booth 1/9/23

Cut Volson. Sign Risner. The cost difference should be negligible. Go from putrid at LG to decent or average. Problem solved.

Ideally, it would be great to get both Scherff and Risner, and focus on defense in this draft. But that may not happen, given the Trey situation. If Trey is traded, then the above scenario could possibly come to fruition. But I suspect we will still draft an OT early. If Trey is extended, we could possibly get one, or none. I like Scherff at RG, and a LG through the draft. In that scenario, a second or third round LG would make sense, even if Tyler Booker is there at 17. Zabel may not be there at 49, but Conerly might. I like Savaiina if we can get him in round three, it would be a steal. It is interesting that getting G value in day 2 is through OT switch. Just a weak G class. I don't like Mbow. Lastly; I have a suspicion Zabel, Conerly and Savaiina would not be selected just to fill a G role...... they could be picked even if we fill both G positions via FA. Orlando Brown may want an extension next year and price himself out of our range. So, an OT in Day 2 would not surprise me. Maybe even in round 1, if we get a first rounder for Trey. ![]() |
