Trey Hendrickson Update

I understand what you are saying. But Bengals do employ close to 500 people and bring a ton of money to the community.

Bengals and Reds teams bring $2 billion to the region annually

It is not ony our players who pay taxes, it is opposing teams, coaches, players and staff who pay Cinci income taxes.

You can debate if they money contributed to stadium deals is paid for with the income the team generates by being here.

Your response is laughable. You don't think having an NFL franchise does not benefit the community? I will just leave it with an economic survey. "The Cincinnati Bengals' total economic impact on the community is estimated at over $1 billion annually, which benefits the region through stadium development, job creation, and charitable giving."

Yep, no value there.

What the close to a million in cap space opening each week that Trey would sit out does, besides just keeping the money.  There are free agents less money than Trey on defense Bengals could bring in, and many more free agents once NFL teams make their cuts Tuesday 26th. The  Bengals could add player to become a better defense by the time they get to play-offs.   I know Bengals defense is rough now, but if this team could hit it's stride and the defense becomes kind of good as season goes along.  That is the goal anyway, to be on your game going into the play-offs.

So the around a million week in cap space if Trey sits out.  Some free agents on defense are Za Darius Smith or Clowney as Edge Rusher.  Rasul Douglas or Asante Samuel at CB.  Justin Simmons or Marcus Williams at Safety.   Plus more Free Agents hitting the open market looking for a team after all NFL teams have to make a lot of player cuts on Tuesday 26th deadline.  The extra million a week could let defensive coach Golden suggest to Bengals some free agent players to bring in that could maybe help this team This Season.

OK, we all want Trey to Play....but if he doesn't, the extra million per week in cap space could get some help in here to help win This Season.  There could be Free Agents who could help this defense.

The Colts game will be the last game for many Bengals also.  It is NFL Cut Time.  So those not getting it done will be gone.  Plus Bengals cut Zach Moss and opened some cap space with that move.  So the Bengals are either set to take vacations with this money as you suggest, OR bring in some free agent players to help this team This Year as I suggest.  If Trey don't Play, then Plan B has to be brining in some D Help in early part of season to try to have a defense that is better hitting it's stride for play-offs in mid to late season.

There is an O Lineman fans on here want, but Bengals would now be wise to wait and see the O Linemen on the open market come Tuesday the 26th.  D Help and O line Help may be coming.  For example someone that gets cut from a Super Bowl team or good play-off team last season loaded with talent, may find an opening here.  It's how Bengals got a very good kicker in Horst Muhlmann because Chiefs had Jan Stenerud.  Just because the player cut didn't beat out a great player, it doesn't mean he can't help your team. Paul Brown in Cleveland cut Len Dawson and told him to go find his life's work. His life's work was going to Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs. So some cuts are great pick ups for other teams. Tampa never gave Steve Young a chance, but 49ers did and he became a Super Bowl type QB.  One mans garbage is another mans treasure.

Yes, Bengals could bring in a pass rusher if the choose after week 1 and use Trey money to pay them. Also, Bengals do not have to guarantee a vet contract if they are not on the roster week so best to sign one after 1st game.

No it isn’t worth arguing about.  I know I am right based on the history of the Brown family which is fact and a narrative widely known about nationally.  You can’t argue this fact.  The other fact is more geared to the NFL leaching communities for stadiums.  Browns owner in Cleveland fleecing Ohio tax payers for an entertainment area thats going to net him multi millions.  He can afford it.  Also, the tax payers in buffalo paying billions for a stadium where the owner just bought $100 million boat.

Didn’t know this was a debate competition.  I am humbled by the hubris all of the champion debaters.  I am not worthy….LMFAO

Oh getting a cast off that another team didn’t want.  Brilliant…. They should had thought and strategized this back in February not two weeks before the season.  They knew Trey wanted to be extended but dragged their tight ass feet.  The mentality of the Brown/Blackburn family is nonsensical.  Constantly making boneheaded decisions only to do an audible at the last minute trying to correct their mistakes.  FO apologists like you would excuse their malfeasance managing the team.  They have been operating this way for the last 50 years.  It doesn’t have to be like this.

EDIT

Clowney is a top 75 player in free agency according to NFL.com, so hardly a cast off. He is unsigned. I think at the end of 2025 all of your naysaying will be debunked as we will make the playoffs and have another winning record, 5th year in a row. Sorry, it is not an easy feat to win in the NFL and in our case playing in one of the toughest divsions does not help. Bad FO don't have a winning record 5 years in a row.

Bengals could extend Trey, and he blows his knee out week 1. You would blame the team for his injury to make yourself look good.

Link? Because not a chance in hell is age 32 season Clowney a Top-75 player in the NFL.

My mistake, I was reading the bottom of the NFL page and it had changed from top 100 players to top 100 free agents available. You are correct, I was wrong. But he and Smith will are both available if week 1 our Trey replacements do not play well. The Trey fine money could go towards paying them and Bengals do not have to guarantee the contract after week 1 if they wanted to cut them if Trey decides to play.

Quote:Bengals president Mike Brown and his family received the Pillar Award for Community Service's Kent Clapp CEO Leadership Award. The award recognizes a top executive for his or her passion toward philanthropy and honors the late Kent Clapp, CEO of Medical Mutual, who died in a 2008 plane crash.

The Bengals have a strong commitment to making a difference in the community, generating more than $1 million each year for community groups. This includes direct Bengals corporate contributions, NFL Charities, and other efforts with business partners.
"We love being a part of the Greater Cincinnati community and want to do our part to help make the community better," said Bengals executive vice president Katie Blackburn. "We have a big platform that gives us the opportunity to reach a lot of people that others can't reach. Our goal is to amplify the already great work so many organizations, foundations and charities are doing in the Greater Cincinnati area."
With more than 100 organizations supported each year, it would be hard for fans to not have their lives touched by an organization supported by the Bengals. Every level of the organization — from players to owners to coaches to staff — is involved in the effort.

If we are talking top 100 players, in 2024, Trey was 77th. Thus far, his ranking has not been released for 2025, which means he is a top 20-ranked player (no way he dropped off the list).

Trey signing watch starts in earnest around 4 PM this afternoon and really hits high gear after the PS signings.

They should have practice on Wed and Thu. I'm guessing they get a long 3-day weekend before heading into the regular season practice schedule. Trey will sign his extension in time to have that full week of practice

I hope you are correct. I have some doubt and left him off my 53 man prediction. I also agree he is a top 20 player, huge jump from 77 last year. We need some other guys on defense and offense to make a huge leap into the top 100 next year. If so, we will have a great year.

I was a young man growing up during the Big Red Machine era of the Reds. They were a great team, but they also had a bunch of gys have career years when the won the world series. Our 8th hitter was a defensive gold glove winner who hit over .300. We need the Bengals to have the same thing happen in 2025, if so will be a very fun year.

How far do you have to sink to go from being a fan of the team to being an actual fan of this ownership group.  It's next level bootlicking.

People who compare contributions of billionaires (billionaires via inheritance, not self-made ones in this case) to what dudes on a fan message board do with their lives have some very strange ideas about proportion and the nature of reality.  A less neutral description would be infantile.

It's not hard to throw cash around when you're enter the world with an Uncle Scrooge style money bin.  But yeah, it's all due to their virtuous nature and love for the community.  You should be a comedian, Sled.

Also, guarantee that any dime of anything that family has given to the community was done for a tax write-off.

He will be on the 53 man roster.  He is signed and they aren't listing him.

I may be wrong, but once season starts if he refuses to practice, he reverts to the DNR list so Bengals are not penalized for a guy not honoring his contract. We will find out soon.
