Chase not Practicing
(09-07-2024, 01:19 PM)Whatever Wrote: They likely know already.  The Questionable designation is probably to keep the Pats guessing and to force them to prepare for either possibility.

As far as designations go, 95% of the time Questionable means they are playing, Doubtful means they are not. (This according to Bob Papa)

Maybe he did. Maybe that's why Chase practiced this week.

Jamarr Chase now has an “illness” designation.

This franchise is a clown show.

Wonder if the league told the Bengals you have to add something to make him questionable? You can’t be questionable for having a rest.

There’s gonna be a ***** riot if he doesn’t play tomorrow.

Organization is and has always been a ***** joke.

Yes the game day, social media, and the stuff the Blackburn girls are touching is good...but the actual business side of the front office still ***** blows. Katie and Troy are torpedoing a potential Super Bowl season.

They lucked into Joe Burrow. They should be on their hands and knees every night thanking God for him because they'd still be a laughing stock of it weren't for him.

I'll be there tomorrow. I've already accepted that I won't see Chase running out during introductions and then playing. Already accepted it.

If he plays, I'll be pleasantly surprised and excited. But expecting to see Yoshi, Irwin, the TEs and maybe Burton.

It really sounds like the team is calling his bluff with the offer that's on the table.  He may or may not be dug in enough to go into the season before they work something out. The Bengals make some questionable offers to certain position players, but they tend to pay their number 1 receivers.  I'd be surprised if their current offer is that far outside the neighborhood he's seeking.

At this point, I'd be prepared to play hardball if I were the organization.  Rescind the offer.  He can play on the rookie deal or he can sit for two years and incur fines.

One big problem here IMO is that the team has always indicated an intention to extend Chase.  He knows he has them by the balls in that respect.  They should have maintained some ambiguity.  Rescinding any offer would return some ambiguity to the situation.  Be willing to move ahead with or without him.  He's done nothing but dog walk the organization and Taylor for the entirety of camp.  They seem to give ground while he remains evasive and incoherent.

It's not ideal season wise, but they're not obligated to play this game if they decide they've had enough.

Burton inactive. Kendrick Pryor activated from practice squad.

His interview yesterday could be interpreted a dozen different was, likely by design.

I know it's been said on here that he's going to play.  I hope he does.

I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if he sits.  Rumors have persisted that he will sit the full season without a deal.  All he's ever said is that he'd consider playing without one.  It really doesn't feel like a deal is getting done.

I have no problem watching Burrow beat the Patriots without Chase and Higgins. As long as we win the snaps the backups receive will be invaluable. We need Chase and Tee vs KC, but their lack of snaps will likely be an issue.

Higgins had a full preseason. He should be fine.

Given Higgins history with his hamstrings I’d be shocked if he played next week, Commanders at the earliest I reckon.

Could you even depend on Chase if he doesn’t play this week? Hardly any reps during camp a contract situation that has wrecked his head he will probably be touch and go at best and even if he played I doubt it’s a full workload.

Every ***** year we start with a cloud over us.

Another issue is Tee lost a good friend and former teammate yesterday. I know we expect pro athletes to be super heroes but they are just as human as all of us. I will understand if he is not in the right frame of mind tomorrow. Football (or my job) is way down on my list of life priorities.

Let's start drafting stud TEs since stud TE1 typically makes less than stud WR1.

Who Dey and let's hope Tee and Chase contribute to winning football sooner than later.
