Chase not Practicing

Keep in mind that there is a huge difference between Guaranteed and Guaranteed at Signing.  For example, if there's a $10 mil roster bonus in year 2, that's technically considered "Guaranteed Money", but if the team cuts him before that, he doesn't see that money.  Lots of folks get confused on that.

Practicing, then not, is a leverage move.  One negotiations heated up, he started practicing, likely as a show good faith on his part or the team saying they won't negotiate until he practices.  Historically, the Bengals come in with low ball offers, which probably caused him to stop and then they upped their offer.  When asked about feeling if was being valued as the #2 priority behind Burrow when he was interviewed after returning to practice, his answer was "Now I do.". Not hard to figure out when you take our history into account.  They lowballed him to start, like they always do.

He was listed as Questionable on the Injury Report.  Do you realize that if he says he's definitely going to play the league can fine the club or take away draft picks for manipulating the Injury Report?  Also, he's not playing if the team doesn't dress him.  Technically, every player on the roster is a "game time decision" unless the HC says otherwise.  Not to mention that he said he wasn't going to sit due to his contract, already.

"Good deal" is subjective, and it doesn't feel like you're being objective, here.  The only thing they agreed on and that can be assumed was "good" was the AAV.  They couldn't even agree on years, for heaven's sake, let alone payment schedule or the Bengals' Achilles heel, guaranteed money.
We can debate the issues, decisions made  and the assumptions on what we actually don;t know  im not saying that my post was this was not an objective interview... it was total one sided

Well first Rapien has not been doing so well with his info of late but if we are to believe this is factual it sounds like Bengals and Chase both put a line in the sand on the guaranteed and were not able to find a middle ground, the positive is that means 90% of contract is agreed upon and my guess they will find a compromise where Chase moves up and Bengals move down the guarantee, the question will be when that happens.

I was leaning that way of thinking, but couldn't remember. Thanks!

We're so good that we can fill two stadiums full of fans?

Yup, guaranteed at signing is the only one that really matters because it's the only one that's ACTUALLY guaranteed. If it takes multiple years for it to vest, it's not really guaranteed afterall.

Plus when does the signing bonus get paid out? Bengals try to do some games where they pay it out as late as possible so they can make more money on the interest/investments versus the playing being able to make more money on the interest/investments. Most players want a signing bonus paid out in whole when they sign, as per the name.

That sounds like a more than fair offer to Chase.  He shouldnt get as much as Lamb and certainly not Jefferson but there he is at a 4 year 140 million extension.  That's a good offer by the Bengals.

This is going to hang over this team’s head until it’s resolved. If it’s resolved.

I’m really sick of this franchise.

Lolwut.

Who the hell would wanna watch a game on the Jumbotrons in Paycor?
Especially for that price?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Seems VERY expensive. It's got to be close to the cost of game tickets.

They should have actors on the field act out the exact things that happen for the game.

If they can get 20k - 30k fans to show up and buy some food/drinks from concessions that could be 2-4 million toward the Chase contract.  Cant blame them for trying to come up with ways to generate the cash flow they need.  The Bengals arent independently wealthy.   The stadium watch party could be fun for the fans plus help the cash flow to sign these guys.  For the people that keep saying just sign Chase, here is your chance to support the team and to help generate the cash that will be needed to sign Chase.

He's the one who said he didn't need to be the top pair WR last year and that he was willing to take less so they could hang on to other players. Now all of a sudden he has to be the top paid.

It's really kind of hilarious that fans seem to hold it against the Brown family for not being richer while simultaneously holding it against them for being "cheap".
