Chase not Practicing

It was an interview last year, so no, I'm not searching the internet.

He is being offered a third of the guaranteed money that his peers received; this is squarely  on the front office.

The cheapness of the organization is costing us a chance to compete for titles. That's why people are tired of the Families cheapness.

I just ran a dated search for anything before this offseason into start of last season. The only interview that came up that kind of had something on this was from one really early in the year that asked if he'd be willing to take less to keep others. He said that was a good question and he said it depends because if he did they may cut someone else, or use the money somewhere else (Not sure what he meant) but he never says he would. There was also a quote from right after Justin Jefferson signed who said he was happy for him to get a new deal as it would set the market for him.

I don't see anywhere really where he said he didn't want to be the highest paid, or definitively where he said he'd take less to keep others.

So, if he sign no contract this year, and the team stinks it up all year, what happens in the next offseason? Will he want out like we have seen before?

He'll eventually get paid as a Bengals.

Will the Bengals give on the guaranteed money next year? Seems like an issue that isn't going to just go away.

Perhaps the NFL should rethink the guaranteed portion of contracts and how they are paid out? I mean, the NBA and MLB players don't receive 60-80% of their contract value at signing, and their deals are still fully guaranteed.

Actually, they do. They could always just go to the draft and get another WR. Chase is guaranteed $50M for the next two years, as it already stands.

HOF caliber players are hard to draft.

We don't need a HOF caliber player, just one who wants to complete his current contract before wanting to be paid more than anyone else at his position.

Only 50 million for 2 years, I can see why he isn't happy I mean it would be very difficult to live comfortably on that little money even after the tax hit and fees. Ahh, I forgot it isn't what his agent and market calls for and 90% isn't guaranteed.

Bengals are pretty good at drafting WR, no need to keep them at the top of the food chain, payroll wise..

Who on this roster are we paying instead of Chase and Higgins? How will Burrow feel when the FO lets both of his Wrs go because thier cheap asses?

The Packers helped Devonte Adams find a new home, didn't they?

Where did you get these numbers?

I have his salary in 2024 at 1 million, he has a larger cap hit, but Bengals already paid him the additional cap money in bonuses already in 2024.

So they owe him 1,055,000 million in base in 2024 and then less than 22 million in 2025.

So far from the 50 million you are refarming.

They would have to not extend him and then franchise Chase in 2026 to get to 50 million assuming tagging h in 2026 is around 27 million.

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

They did trade him when he refused to play on the tag. Adams was a lot older than Chase so not sure that is apples to apples. He was 28 or 29 and wanting a 3rd contract.
Isn't Chase like 24 or so?

He counts for $50M in Bengals cash already for the next two years. They want to spread out the next big cash outlay, as Burrow was just paid last year. (look how well that has turned out..)
