I guess all of the FO's including the Steelers are inept.
Or is maybe the business part of the NFL?
Do you just willfully ignore the front office ineptitude and cheapness over the last 34 years? Oh, wait. You haven't been a Bengals fan that long. Now it makes sense. So, you'd have no idea that even back in the '70s and '80s, Paul Brown was widely considered cheap when it came to players.
I don't know why i even bother refuting people with endless example of their boundless shortcomings. People are going to see and believe what they want to see. Fact and evidence be damned.

Nice personal attack
I could care less how the team was managed under Paul Brown, he has zero relevence today for a tem that made Chase the highest paid receiver in NF hstory and did the same for Burrow years ago. It is you ignoring this is a business to the Bengals, they do it ofr their entertainment.
They put an exciting team on the field. Maybe you are the one who will never accept facts and winning it all while the goal is very difficult. Will you ever give them credit? Or just continue to personally attack posters who disgree with your logic.

Well it appears Trey is no coming to camp. Nor is JJ Watt.
The Steelers must be inept.

Watt's base salary in 2025 is 21 million.and none is guaranteed.

Bengals pass D with Trey OFF the field: #32 in completion rate, #32 in passer rating, #32 in pressure rate, #32 in success rate allowed, #32 in EPA/attempt.
Dead freaking last.
With him ON the field?
#11 completion rate, #8 passer rating, #12 pressure rate, #8 success rate allowed, #19 EPA/attempt.

From dead last to top half, almost top 10. One guy. Pay that man his money.
I have to admit our defense being dead last would be interesting because Burrow could throw for 6000 yards.

I want to correct something I posted earlier. The fines for missing the mandatory camp can be waived by the team if they so choose. But, the fines for anytme missed in TC or for missing games can't be waived.
https://www.nfl.com/news/bengals-trey-hendrickson-steelers-tj-watt-minicamp-holdout
Unlike the previous offseason workouts, minicamps are mandatory, and players are subject to fines for each day they are absent. Missing Day 1 calls for a fine of $17,462. Day 2: $34,925. Day 3: $52,381. The three-day total comes out to $104,768 in potential penalties. Unlike training camp, fines for missing minicamp remain waivable.

Why would we give them credit for making Chase the highest paid receiver in the league? Thats not a plus, you try to extend players at a discount, they waited till his value was at its absolute peak to give him an extension. Same with Tee. Theres a good chance these contracts handcuff us. We basically have to have Chase perform at historical levels for him to be worth his cap space. Same with Tee and we all know his health issues.
Not to mention, we have 3 offensive guys taking up a ton of cap space, who were on the team last year, and we still couldn't make the playoffs. We got worse this offseason and Pittsburgh and Baltimore got better.

Don't use facts homie. They get ignored around here and alternate realities are used as "fact".

You are spinning in circles. Did Chase get paid or did Bengals make him play on his 5th year rookie deal? You are upset that Chase made more money (Bengals paid it) while giving team no credit for pying him.
How did a great contract team did with Trey work out?
Which is it, is team paying players or not? Were Burrow and Chase given the highest aid contracts at their position? Yes, they did and the opposite of cheap. If cheap, they trade Chase as the Cheifs did with Hill. Were the Chiefs cheap?

I would say yes the Chiefs are a cheaper team. But they are not afraid to use the tools they have to alter the cap when needed. But Bengals are cheap and bad or just refuse to use the tools they have available.

If you don’t think Paul Brown’s legacy and way of doing things doesn’t influence how Mike, Katie, and Troy operate I’ve got news for ya: The ghost of Paul is alive and well down on Mehring Way. It’s visible in how they structure contracts, how they fight for pennies, and how they view player amenities. Paul is indisputably one of the greatest minds in NFL history, and one of the greatest coaches. As GM/owner, not so much. Mike got Paul’s GM/owner skills and not the football mind.
Through 2024
Mike Brown Owner/GM record: 34 years 232-311-4 .419 winning pct.
Playoff Record: 5-9 .357 winning pct.
Zac Taylor coaching record: 6 years 46-52-1 .470 winning pct.
Playoff Record: 5-2 .714 winning pct.

What tools? They have a player under contract. If a player is an idiot and chooses to sit out, it is on him, not the team. I have stated I hope they resolve it, but Trey wil forever be on my list of least favorite players moving forward.
I think he is unrealistic and if he gets no new contract, he and his agent are to blame n my humble opinion. If rumors are true and Bengals offered hm an additional 12 million dollars (he is under contract so they did not have to offer anything), Trey is clearly the problem as they is a ton of a raise in 2025 if the reported number offered is accurate.

My kids took over my business. They manage it a lot differently than I did and are thriving. I am still alive and I see what they are doing. It is hilarious you think a dead man, dead for decades is dictating the actions of their granddaughter.

Did you really just ask that?
Were the Chiefs cheap because they traded a WR, for a massive haul, because they knew they had a GOATesque QB who could still put up numbers and would allow them to focus on the defense, which they did to the tune of 2 more super bowls--when Mahomes numbers dipped--AND they've paid BIG money to their Oline to protect him.
Were the Chiefs cheap? Did you really really really just ask that question?
I would support you using logic, common sense and context when making points, going forward. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Every family operates in the same way your one, anecdotal example operates.
That's what you just implied.
I honestly don't understand how you don't see the obvious.

The " front office" gave us a team that went to the superbowl a few years ago and then the AFC championship game the year after that..And had it not been to the inordinate amount of injuries including starting quarterback,... same team was playoff caliber the next two years...Y ou mean the same front office that has shelled out a zillion bucks for Burrow..Chase and Higgins etc....Do you willfully ignore facts...Pratt stunk the past two years..time for him to go...And it would appear that not even one NFL team valued hendrickson and was prepared to give him as much as he feels he deserves...you want to live in the past so be it...this is not the same bengals of the 70s and 80s in any way shape or form

What haul of cheaper player could Bengals have received for Chase? So, yes it is a very valid point. Bengals could have got mor for Chase than Chiefs got and then also would not have had to pay his massive contract. Last time I checked, our QB smoked Mahommes so we too have a very great QB, some would say better the PM.

The front office constructed a team that was so bad, they got the #1OA pick in 2020 and the #5OA pick in 2021. Those 2 guys were the main reason the team made the SB and AFCCG. Part of the reason they didn't finish the job was because they cheaped out on the offensive line and that broke down in the most crucial moments in '21 and '22.
The one thing the front office did well for those teams was to sign some key free agents on the defensive side.
I can't make you see the truth, i can only alert you to it and then it's on you.

The know it alls have all the answers. It is easy to bash any FO who has not won a Super Bowl. I was in LA and the same FO you mentiond had us within minutes of winning our first Super Bowl. The know it alls would not celebrate it, they would attempt the role the FO played.
FO is an easy target for them since our or any NFL teams odds any year of winning start at Super Bowl at 5% at best. Then when said team does not win it all, they act like they are a genious for saying I told you so.
