That makes sense and I do think we would've addressed it later. To me Stewarts production red flags are too big for the 17th pick. That combined with the fact that there were some guys with alot of upside that went in the 3rd and 4th rd. I just would've liked a Safety, linebacker or Harmin in Rd 1 if we were going defense but it's over now. That was just more wondering how we could've made the defense the best we could with our limited moves. A safety or linebacker rd 1 and edge with our 2, 3 or 4th rd pick.

Bengals just sent another extension contract offer to Hendrickson. So they are negotiating. As a Bengals Fan, I'm hoping we soon here Hendrickson is going to be playing as a Bengal many years to come. That would be great news. I think Golden can put together a Defense, but having Hendrickson is huge.
With Mahomes saying he hopes Burrow and Bengals don't have Hendrickson, that is a good reason to have Hendrickson to make a Super Bowl run. Hendrickson has been in Mahomes face many times, and I can see why Mahomes would like him off Bengals.
I want to hear those magic words, " Hendrickson signs to be a Bengal on long term contract ".

I loved what Mahomes said about Trey:
"that dude is just a straight beast. I remember playing him when he was in New Orleans with the Saints, and then playing against him now in Cincinnati. I mean, he is as good as advertised. He gets some hype I think now, but I don't think people really, truly understand the impact he has on the football game."
"Hopefully, he gets his contract, but hopefully, maybe it's not with Cincinnati," Mahomes joked. "I think it would help me out a little but if I wasn't playing that guy every single year. but he's a great competitor, man. He's always fun to go up against."

Bengals Owners of Mike Brown and Family say The Hendrickson deal will get done. I love that. Bengals could make Super Bowl run with him on the D Line. Without him, not as much. Sounds like they are close to a deal.
If they have Hendrickson, the heck with the rookie Stewart. Bengals say he is getting bad advice. At least with Hendrickson we are getting a Veteran Leader who was huge in getting Bengals to Super Bowl and next year AFC Championship. The rookie is unproven.

Why the consistent down grading of Trey’s accomplishments for the Bengals. He gets no love from you. What did he do, take your lunch money from you as a kid? Throw you in a locker or gave you a swirlie? Trey is the most important person on the defense

For those that assert the Bengals are the most dysfunctional team in the NFL and have the worst FO:

Quote:“Just because we sign [Parsons] doesn’t mean we’re going to have him. He was hurt six games last year. Seriously,” Jones said, incorrectly, as Parsons missed four games last season. “I remember signing a player for the highest paid at the position in the league and he got knocked out two-thirds of the year — Dak Prescott. So there’s a lot of things you can think about, just as the player does, when you’re thinking about committing and guaranteeing money.”

I don't think it's too much to ask to have the rookie first round pick AND the proven veteran

At this point hoping for the best and expect the worst. I'm expecting Murphy and Ossai to be our starting DE's for the forseeable future.

Mike Brown talked like he was putting a good offer on the table to Hendrickson, so my hopes were up. However Hendrickson found Mike Browns offer over weekend as insulting. Hendrickson said he was willing to go down in price, but Mike Brown went cheaper refusing any guaranteed years on the contract. So Hendrickson who has been in Cincinnati left for Florida with his wife to take her on a vacation. His agents are still going through the nonsense with Mike Brown, but Hendrickson is on vacation with his wife in Florida. Hendrickson was insulted as he said he was willing to go down in price, but then Mike Brown wanted it to be a non guaranteed contract. So Hendrickson has left the building and Cincinnati and Ohio for now. So Mike Brown saying this is going great is a lie. Plus Mike Brown wants to go back to non guaranteed contracts like they had in the 1950's and 1960's, and Mike Brown is living in the past.
Those who said Kate took over and got them to Super Bowl. Maybe, I don't know. All I know is old man Mike Brown is back at the helm. Most NFL teams have been doing guaranteed contracts for many decades now. Mike Brown refusing guaranteed contract to Stewart is one thing, but refusing one to Hendrickson willing to drop his price was Mike Brown insulting Hendrickson. Old man Mike Brown is living 50 years in the past on NFL contracts.
I don't blame Hendrickson taking his wife on vacation to Florida after being insulted by Mike Brown over weekend. Trey said he offered to drop his price, but then Mike Brown refused to have it a modern era NFL guaranteed contract.

Lol, for as good of a business man he seems to be, he just absolutely can't stop stepping on himself when it comes to running the team. They never seem to lack talent, so the have some good FO guys there, but it just always seems to be one thing or another with them preventing them from being any better than good.

Yes, at their best they are a good team and organization but not a top tier organization making the right decisions to win a Super Bowl. I personally doubt Joe Burrow is going to win a Super Bowl because that window passed once he started getting the big money. The season where the Bengals lost to the Rams in the Super Bowl, but equally experienced success by making it to the big game, was more a result of Burrow and Chase being majorly talented than any decisions the Brown family made. Years and years of failure netted them the chance to take those two talented guys.
AI tells me the average NFL QB plays 4.44 years. AI tells me a super star NFL QB plays 8 to 10 years. Burrow has played 5 NFL seasons.
I don't know about most of you posters, but time sure does go by fast. We aren't too far away from posting about who replaces Burrow in the upcoming years.

So those happy Bengals are in training camp, have on rose colored glasses. The top defensive player Hendrickson is not in camp, and the #1 draft pick also on defense is not in camp. This is due in large part to Mike Brown, who Forbes lists as one of richest men in world. Mike Brown refuses guaranteed contract to Stewart. Mike Brown said over weekend, " Why should I pay someone in jail ". Stewart is not in jail, and if Bengals feel he is a criminal type, why the heck did they draft him. All Mike Brown did was insult Stewart and his agent. Mike Brown also insulted Hendrickson the same weekend. Hendrickson said he was willing to lower his price, but Mike Brown refused any guaranteed contracts to Hendrickson also. So Hendrickson left with his wife and family back to Orlando Florida area where he was born and grew up, as he is getting tired of Mike Browns insults.
So things are not great start of camp, far from it. So at this time I post Cleveland 35, Bengals 20 in another loss start of season. Who will lose the game is Mike Brown, I put the blame for another bad September by Bengals on Mike Brown, because Grumpy Old Man has dragged out the contracts with his cheap insults.

Bengals had middle of the road defense ranking the year they went to the superbowl..nobody on defense was " huge" in getting them to the superbowl that year

Mike brown did not diminish stewart ..He actually said he thought the behavior clause would have no impact on stewart. He was quite complimentary of Trey Hendrickson..said he was a good player and the team wanted him

The story with the Bengals 2021 defense was the 30 takeaways they logged, with 9 of them in the postseason.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Even with the abundance of injuries last year the bengals were able to play with the top tier teams in the nfl...and I would imagine that both buffalo and kansas city were thrilled they did not have to play the bengals in the playoffs
The team made some definitive changes in the offseason and if they stay healthy there is no reason why the cant go on a superbowl run this year

Wrong as usual. Jessie Bates was easily their best player during that SB run.

Good stuff, Patrick is a good dude, I hate the Chiefs but I have a hard time hating Patrick Mahomes.
Shows how good Trey is Patrick not wanting him in Cincy anymore lol
