Defensive Issues
#1
To me, the defensive issues aren't scheme. The line is bad
This hurts LB play. And the safeties are slow and bad. And our CBs are young and not that good CTB shouldn't be a #1 CB.

We miss Reader and Bates.

Our defensive draft picks haven't worked out.

Carter was a 3rd Round pick. Waived.

Murphy, Hill, etc are mediocre so far.

We blitz, we get beat with throws. We don't blitz, we get no pressure.

Then, we can't stop the run so we have to play 1 dimensional guys like Guy that get no rush.

I'm not a fan of Lou, but there's only so much you can do when your talent level is bad.

Them not putting enough early picks and signing enough veteran line help has almost single handedly destroyed this defense.

Well, the picked Murphy and Jenkins and Carter high. Those guys just aren't players yet.

It's hard to replace a DJ Reader with a rookie. Just like it was hard to replace Whitworth.

They miss Bates far more than Reader, and I was a huge Reader guy. The defense fell apart when Bates left.

Murphy doesn’t play inside, Jenkins was injured and drafted this year and Carter was drafted as a project. He isn’t on the team now.

I have given Lou the benefit of the doubt because it was his defense that carried us to the Superbowl and since that time we have let the talent leave.  Im not sure if Lou is the answer at DC right now but he certainly doesnt have the talent on defense other teams do.  People keep saying he's bad and maybe he is but there is a lack of talent on this defense that would be hard for any DC to overcome.

Bad take brother. Just day 1 and 2 picks

2024 - Jenkins and Jackson
2023 - Murphy, Turner, battle
2022 - hill, Taylor Britt, Carter
2021 - ossai
2020 - Wilson
2019 - Pratt

19 total picks in rounds 1-3, since Taylor took over, 11 on defense.

Rankins, Hill, Hendrickson, this doesn’t include Larry O, reader in past years.

It’s not for a lack of effort and assets.

Defensive line? When did Wilson, Pratt, Turner, Battle, Hill, CTB play defensive line?

They cannot stop the run. At all. Putting the run stuffing on 2 rookies is bad . Has Jackson played a down yet?

Well, it exposes Bell and the other safeties too.

Carter was a 3rd Round pick in 22. Shouldn't draft projects that high.

Murphy doesn't play inside, but our pass rush is largely non-existant.

It's bad drafts all over the defense.

CTB might be ok. He's not a #1 CB. But, the rest of the defensive drafted guys suck.

The SB year, the defense wasn't great, but they forced timely turnovers. Just like vs the Ravens. But, we decided to settle for the long fg.

Yep. Last 4 drafts, CTB only above average drafted guy. So far.

Ossai is terrible now. Used to look so promising.

The defense was playing relatively well until Dax Hill went down, then the game turned into a battle of big plays.

Well, as I see it, there is no reason to draft anyone on offense this coming draft. Go defense all the way.

Yep, they were opportunistic but they were also passable in terms of general defensive play.

The line obviously plays a huge part, but how many catches did the Ravens make yesterday where the coverage was within 5 yards of the receiver? Seemed every pass play was to a dude who was wide open.

Some of it is the line, and some of it will be the threat of a QB who can run, but I don't have a lot of confidence in our coverage guys either.

The scheme itself is bad, the exclusivity of off coverage is troubling, and the pressure packages are extremely elementary, there's absolutely nothing complicated about lou's pressure packages that's why they're so easy to beat..

we don't use overloads or simulated 5 man pressures that confuses qbs and protections instead we use easily diagnosed zero pressures that routinely gets tore apart this is definitely on lou..

I have not once seen a two man under press coverage concept this season from lou and that's troubling considering how easily we been giving up big pass plays, we need a better coordinator on defense that's just the truth lou's time has ran it's coarse it's time for a new direction..
