I know a couple posters will be really upset to see this...

Burrow never fumbled the week before. So, clearly you don't watch the games. Thank you for verifying it.

oh but he did in Dalton like playoff form off of a dive, and quickly recovered.

Ok and? I'm sure there were a few other times in the last 4 or 5 seasons where Burrow just lost control of the ball with no outside influence - an unforced error, if you will. What does that have to do with anything?

And, as long as I'm daydreaming, how would Burrow look with the 2015 Bengals defense supporting his efforts?

They could start planning the parade.

Is a 5 pt defecit with 9:42 to go in the 4th "over" to you? With a defensive stop on the next Wash drive, would the Bengals have been able to take the lead on that single possession? They obviously didn't get that stop but to say it was over at the end of the 3rd is absolutely ludicrous.

Here's the thing. I like to believe i'm as honest as anyone you can find when it comes to Burrow supporters. I'm not afraid to point out his shortcomings when they happen or assign blame where others may not. Last night i was wondering how many times Burrow has had a chance, with the ball in his hands to tie or take the lead late in close games but it was too late for me to do any research then. So today i went and looked at all the Bengals one score losses and soon i will go watch the end of those games to find out how many times he failed to get that tie or lead and i'll update this post with the results. The thing is, thoughts of a young Aaron Rodgers have been dancing in my head lately in regards to Burrow not pulling games out late. I know specifically, in 2013, before the Bengals played the Pack in Cincy, people were posting "oh nooooez, A-Rod" and i made a post about, regardless of how elite he was, he's failed numerous times late in games and shouldn't really be considered a clutch QB.

So, for now i'll post the Bengals close losses with Burrow and later i'll watch the game to see what position he was in and how he did.

Losses since 2020 with Burrow starting a game (injury games included). First number is point differential and 2nd number is how many times they've lost by that score.

1 - 1
2 - 1
3 - 13 (twice in the playoffs)
4- 1
5 - 2
6 - 1
7 - 0

That's 19 opportunities to tie or take the lead late. There's at least one game (Bears) where they were down big and the final margin looked closer than it was. There may be more, didn't check for that specifically.
They've been "blown out" 9 time with 2 of those being his injury (season ending) games and the Browns were the team in 3 of those 9.

I'll update this tonight or tomorrow, when i have time and as long as i don't start feeling any worse than i do now with this sinus bullshit.

This is gonna take a while so let's start with 2020. Also, keep in mind. These are all close losses to see what Burrow did in those games at the end. I guess after this i'll go back and highlight the GWD as well.

1st game - drives the team down and has a TD pass called back for OPI. Kicker misses a chip shot to tie it with :02 left.

2nd game - Final drive they were down 12 after the defense failed to stop the Browns after the Bengals pulled to within 23-28 with 5:55 in the game on a Burrow TD pass.

3rd game - Speaks for itself in the description above. Throws a game sealing INT with 1/2 minute left.

4th game - Defense gave up lead with :11 seconds after Burrow TD pass with 1:06 left in the game took the lead.

2020 - That's 3 clutch, 1 no clutch.  2 team fails, 1 Burrow fail and 1 defecit greater than 1 score on last drive.

Joe's passing pace/trend this year is 41 td's and 7 int's. That a darn good ratio.

Mahomes is leading the league in interceptions, and has a passer rating of 88.9. What are we even doing here.

It's why I NEVER take playing a rookie QB as a auto win.

It's going to help a little but this kid is the real deal. I've been preaching his praises for two years to some of my Browns friends. Mostly I've been rubbing in the thought of what it would be like to have Daniels in that offense.

Then he comes out and lays 30 plus on us and them. Trust me when I say that I'm glad they don't have him in C-land. Tape helps but talent overwhelms a lot of defensive gameplans. Being a Buckeye I love that Stroud has had some success but he can't run like this kid can.

Daniels looks fantastic so far. He’s actually had an eerily similar start to RG3.

Even though they never trailed in the game that was a clutch throw to Yoshi on 3rd and 12 to pretty much seal it.

But an influential politician once said if you repeat a lie long enough people will believe it..... And here we are. "It's Burrow's fault we are 1-4!" Said no one.

Anyway I've combed through these stats to see where 4th quarter / end of game performances are when the need is to pick up a first down to close the game out, or score a FG to win with over a minute left are. Failures we've seen happen since the SB game. You know the clutch conversation those "couple posters" were discussing. The inability to close close games or score a FG to win it the last 3 seasons.... I guess clutch play / moments were adjusted out of these stats as well.

Either way the losses was never "Burrow's fault" as everyone in this thread fell so hard for. We have to do better combating fake news.

The thread highlights how people resort to strawman arguments.

If I didn’t know any better half the posters are are just Denny with multiple accounts.

And the only reason Burrow is not in the MVP conversation is because of the bad Defense, missed FG's and extra points.

Offense was a big reason they didn’t win against New England and KC.

This recent stretch of games the defense has been the issue, but the season on the whole isn’t entirely their fault.

Defense held New England to 17 and KC to 20.  Offense is to blame for both of those losses.  You have to be able to score more than 10 against a bad team like the Patriots and you cant give KC points when your defense has held them to 20.  If the Bengals offense doesnt give KC a touchdown, the Bengals win that one.  The Bengals defense has struggled this year but they are not to blame for all 4 losses.

the kc loss was flukey but ultimately on the defense for blowing the 4th and 16
