Main problem on 2024 Bengals nobody is clutch
#1
We get elite play form all 3 phases form time to time but when push comes to shove and we absolutely have to have it we continually crap the bed. The offense fails to get a first down we have a bad snap or missed kick by special teams. Or a D thats playing well enough to win craps the bed at the most inopportune time

I don't know. Against the Ravens, defense looked good in 1st half. Then Brown fumbled and the team absolutely imploded.

They're mentally weak. They fold when there is pressure.

In this game...down 21 there's no pressure. Until we tied it, then there was pressure.

Probably need a new coaching staff.

I would take any other teams defensive position players other than a replacement for DE (Hendricks).

And I mean any player on any team in any position, other than DE.  We have the worst Defense talent in NFL. They can’t rush the QB, can’t stop the Run, can’t cover receivers or TE’s, a complete joke.

Agree. When we were good someone was always coming up with the clutch play. Just hasn't happened this season except with
maybe Burrow, Chase and Trey. We have one good play and follow it up with a choke play.

Those clutch plays cover a lot of scheme deficiency. That's not happening.

Truth. With a good DC that has a solid scheme you can survive without having to rely on the clutch play all the time.

We have to pray for it around here lol

I like Mike Hilton a lot but dropping that pick 6 that hit him right in the hands really sums up our whole season.

I believe this is a giant BINGO

We're a 1968 chevy with a rod knocking, smoke billowing out, one wheel bearing going out and coming off on it's last legs most of the time - offensively.

Then some combo of the Burrow, Chase, Tee, Hendrickson, Lamborghini overcomes the 68 Chevy for a brief instant and it's the ultimate mascara for all the BS going on, for an instant. But in the end there's just too much 68 Chevy for the Lamborghini to overcome and beat the odds against any kind of good team.

I agree. I think the entire D could be upgraded. Especially the entire secondary. 2 DB and 2 S is a priority. Won’t happen. We’ll probably draft a RB or WR round 1. We’ll resign Gesicki and have a really nice social media post about it.

That final JK Dobbins run for a TD gave me flashbacks to 1990s Bengals game and summed up the whole organization for me.

Tough game to stomach.

One could maybe argue coming back from 21 down at the start of the 2nd half is at least in some way "clutch," but I can see the argument being clutch means either win or not.

Bengals have really just 1 playmaker on defense and it shows.
And they don't ever try putting Hendrickson on the other side (or at least not that I have noticed).
Most teams' best OL is their LT, so Hendrickson is going against the best the OL has to offer. If the LT is bad, they may/will gameplan an extra blocker to help the LT out against Hendrickson.
And the rest of these DL can't seem to win 1-1 matchups, so there's little pressure.

Did anyone have an average time to throw for Burrow vs Herbert last night? Felt like Herbert had much longer.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

We have been terrible in closing out games on both sides of the ball so clutch plays are missing. We are avg. Less than 6 points in 4th quarter

.....but they didn't fold like that in 21, 22, and really in 23 either.

I agree the team has not been good under pressure this year.

Even Burrow had a bad fumble against KC that basically gave them the game.

I can't explain it.

I'm not sure if the bye will fix it, but the Bengals definitely have some weaknesses on defense and need more playmakers back there.
They need a top 5 corner badly. When they had 2 top corners the safety play didn't matter so much.

Bengals need to win out to make the playoffs.
They could do it.
They would need to beat Pitt twice and a tough Broncos defense.

Honestly I'm fine either way at this point.
I'm just happy I might win my work fantasy league this year (thanks to Burrow, Chase, Higgins, and Chase Brown amongst others).

It's hard to picture the playoffs without the Bengals in it because of how entertaining they are and how elite the offense is.
Every game is a nail biter.

A timely bye when the team is struggling mentally could be what the doctor ordered.
They could still potentially win out.
If they don't, they need a successful offseason to fuel a playoff return.

The Bengals definitely screwed up in letting go of Bates, and probably Mixon as well.
They didn't protect Burrow well early in his career.
They are at fault for sure.
But it is what it is.
Burrow is still here. Chase is still here.
There is still the opportunity for management to put the right pieces around them.

Up to this point the Bengals have failed Burrow and Chase.
That doesn't mean they will continue to do so.
Like I've said before, if the Bengals cannot win a Super Bowl with this kind of talent they aren't worth anyone's time of day.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) Burrow and Chase should play another 10 years for the Bengals.
They have time to win, but they have squandered the best 4 years of their playoff window (salary cap wise).

I'll continue to support the players because they are great ***** players and incredibly entertaining to watch.
Whatever happens happens.
It's just a game.
If it stops being entertaining the world doesn't end (I just stop watching and pay more attention to things that are entertaining/interesting).

Seems like the heart and will to win has left the building.

Gesicki is a good player if you target the guy but yeah keep tossing balls to Irwin and such.

It's a combination of a lot of things... this season really has been a gut punch for everyone.

Ownership has to keep evolving they've done a much better job in the Burrow era. But clearly it hasn't been enough we all see it. The next step is getting rid of coaches that are not making it easier on the players. I would also like to see them cut the majority of the defense and reload in free-agency... I thought I saw they could have up to 100 million.

I'm sorry, but I gotta disagree. The front office is still dogshit.
