If the Bengals do that...they'd certainly ring in some irony points.

Not a chance after running his mouth about Burrow.

All that matters is if Eberflus is an upgrade over Anarumo and I believe he is and his Defense is a 4-3. Dude fits like a glove.

Golden seems to be the most likely since we are waiting though dang it all. I like Golden alright, but the only success he has had as a DC has
been in college unlike Eb.

Don't bet out Zimmer. While he no longer is my first choice, MB views him as the coach who got away. Knows the AFCN like the back of his hand, and runs a 4-3 defense. And he's available.

He would be better than Lou as well even if Zim is not my first choice and slightly agree with others that the game may have passed him
by with the rest of the NFL. But in the AFC North Zim would field a good Defense I am sure of it. It is against teams like the Chiefs and Bills
that I would have my suspicions with Zim's D now a days.

My guess is, they are waiting for the ND/OSU game to be over, then they announce Golden as the next DC. Remember they didn’t announce Zac Taylor until the Rams were eliminated.

There were whispers that Zac was the next HC. Through the local media. It’s been radio quiet so far so who knows.

It would make sense that this was the plan all alone. Wait for ND season to end. Especially given Eb isn’t getting another HC opportunity this season so we can’t say that possibility is the hold up in getting a deal done.

Golden being the next DC definitely builds momentum the longer this goes.

The thing I fear is we get our hopes up and then they announce a dud.

Firing Lou then bringing back his LB coach as the new DC would be a dud to me.  This sounds exactly like something the Bengals would do though so that is why I can believe it is true.

It sounds weird to consider Golden a favorite.  He should already be drawing head coaching offers in the NCAA especially with a win.  Even if he doesn't want to HC, it looks weird to just recently fire more assistants that were here when he was. Who knows who he could get to leave with him.  Clearing the staff looks more like a move to offer control to a more established DC.  If Eberflus is listening, you offer him the job rather than wait and let more jobs open.  Maybe we are waiting for Graham to decide on us or the Jags, but that's more plausible than Golden agreeing under the table or thst we would blindly wait on him.

There were whispers because we knew there was an interview then no one was hired so it became obvious that the hire was the coach still involved in the playoffs.
Now there hasn’t even been a publicly known interview to base rumors on. It is obvious it isn’t either of the 2 guys already interviewed. Luckily, it is still early in the hiring cycle so if Plan A , which I assume is Golden, doesn’t work out there is still plenty time for a quality Plan B

All hopes turn to next year

He probably is, but he still has a farm in Northern Kentucky so this might very well be his last stop.

so Mike Brown has let you know that he felt Zimmer was a coach that got away?..whatever defense he ran in Dallas was not good..he was not good in Minnesota his last couple of years and caused a great deal of turmoil in the locker room and organization

We did have are best defensive rankings under Zimmer. It wouldn’t shock me if he as the new DC,  local ties, still lives in the area. I would have no problem with Zimmer, he’s a proven commodity.

Not so much. But I dont want to see picking up a DC who had mediocre success elsewhere.

sometimes players and coaches "lose it"..Zimmer was bad his last two years in MN...his defense was bad last year with the Cowboys/..I would not "be sure " of anything

perhaps you should research what happened his last two years in MN..many players spoke out against Zimmer..some of his own coaches also..no secret..  Regardless ..Zimmers defense in Dallas was not very good
