But yeah, I don't know anything that is sex-specific unless it involves reproductive organs: we can all get the same things.
I definitely remember someone bringing up VM, just can't remember if it was here or on Twitter...
EDIT* Huh, it was actually around the New Year, my mistake!

Then adding an edge rusher in FA as you stated...
Good times!
Sounds great to me Rugby. I also am liking Grant more than Nolen now that I heard about Nolen's character issues. Grant could start
right off the bat and really help our run Defense and he can also rush the passer, perfect fit for our needs. This allows both McKinnley
and Kris to grow behind BJ and Kenneth.
Josh Sweat in FA and it is looking good around here.

Put him on IR, let him get healthy, and let the younger players develop or flop.
Yeah, thankfully we don't have that coaching staff here anymore. Major mistake, you don't start a player that is hurt over players that
are not. Ossai was clearly our best pass rusher besides Trey last season, should of played him just to see if he developed or flopped
like you say. Sam can come back and be a backup and run stopper for us for cheap if he is not washed up.

Most logical cut given the freed up cap space, (lack of) tenure with the Bengals, and (lack of) games played during that tenure for whatever reasons.
The cut(s) after Rankins will be the interesting one(s).
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

Waynes was pretty invisible too as a Bengal.

I dont believe the injury excuse. If Hubbard was injured that bad and needed to be put on the IR he could have been. Orlando Brown Jr. didnt have a problem telling the coaching staff if he was able and ready to play. Higgins had no trouble telling the coaching staff he couldnt play games. Kris Jenkins with his broken thumb was able to tell the coaching staff when he was ready to give it a try. Mckinnley Jackson was able to tell the coaching staff when his right knee was good enough to play. Hubbard has been bad the last two years. If the Bengals dont cut him and Hubbard has his 3rd bad year in a row, is the excuse going to be he was injured again and the coaching staff made him play? I dont buy it. I think its nonsense.

Yeah, the Bengals FO version of the "Oh Shit, we don't have a NT heading into the season" move. In typical fashion, they hired and overpaid a washed-up, has been-never-was but a one season flash type of player who happened to benefit from playing on a few high profile teams along the way.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Let's remember Rankins was not intended to be a NT when signed but rather an attempt to get interior pass rush back which we haven't had since Ogunjobi. They obviously also planned to get a new NT but that never materialized. It left our DT room with a swarm of 3Ts and the closest thing to a NT was actually Tufele. Rankins contracting Meningitis and the injuries to Jenkins and Jackson did not help things. That was how we actually rolled Lawrence Guy out there a couple of games. I'm assuming we will be looking for a big ol NT in Free Agency and/or may go for Jamaree Caldwell in Rd 3 of the draft.

Non-Football Injury/Illness, no protection outside of what you specifically negotiated for in your contract.
Also an injury settlement is for when a player gets hurt doing football activities during the season and you want to cut them. The doctor says "their injury will be healed in 5 weeks and then they're capable of finding a job elsewhere" so you negotiate how many weeks of their salary the team will pay until they're capable of trying out with another team, and there are no salaries in the offseason. Rankins has long been "healthy" he just needs to put back on weight, which is not an injury even if it was a football-related one.
It's NOT injury guarantees in a contract. If you don't have guarantees then you don't have any right to the money.

Is our old friend Billings a FA this off season? I really only focus on the Bengals and only watch other teams if they're playing them, but I believe I remember a few of you saying he's really improved in Chicago.

Nah, he only played 8 games last year due to injury. His best overall season to date was his last year with the Bengals. I mean he'd be great in a rotation for some veteran leadership, I just would hope that the team wouldn't sign him for more than $5-6M.

I hope that happens, a healthy Hubbard can still add to the team and has other important variables

Most of the guys who are cut candidates from here, and all the large contract guys,: Hubbard, Cappa, Pratt, Stone. I would not release them until a replacement is in hand.
We have about $60 mil in space now, even without a Burrow restructure. More than enough to get Tee signed and do the Chase/Hendrickson extensions. The latter two being extensions, the vap hitcthere will only be the prorated signing bonus.
Even if Tee comes on at $30, the latter two are likely only around $15 total. $15 mil to spare. $34 if you get the Burrow restructure done.
Heck, that's enough for Gesicki, Hilton, & Hill and then some, if we want.
FWIW, we had 9 guys grade out at 70+ at PFF (who played significant snaps). Burrow (93.9), Chase (85.8), and Hendrickson (88.1) are obvious. Chase Brown (75.7) & Logan Wilson(72.3) less so. The other 4? Higgins (88.2), Hilton (75.9), Gesicki (71.5), and BJ Hill (70.2).
Anyway, even the 2nd tier cut candidates like Moss & Volson, I'd wait until we have upgrades lined up (or drafted) before I cut them loose.

Again, it is also possible that Hibbard and Cappa, if healthy, could return to form.
