Yep. I think I heard them say that on NFL Live.
Of course, out of that 18, maybe 2 will be really great players. If that.

IF he were a free agent, some team might give him that contract. But, with a 1st Round pick you get a young, cost controlled player.
Let's say the Chargers who pick 22 wanted Trey.
At 22, Mykel Williams should be there. Kenneth Grant a DT from Michigan. JT Tuimolau an Edge from Ohio State.
I agree, but none of those players you listed have the track record Trey has, especially for a team that is in "Win now" mode!

They should trade Tee also, unless he takes less than 30 a year, which he won't.

Based on draft needs, 17 Teams need Edge help. Taking NO out of the equation due to salary cap issues, that leaves 16 Teams.
NE has the highest cap room.....
Buffalo, KC, Detroit, Washington, Philly and GB have late second round picks.
Titans, Panthers, CHI, ATL, AZ and NE have early second and early third rounders.
If this goes through, I would package a pick to get into early second round, where we could still address D-Line. The talent falls off drastically after top-50.

They’re reportedly looking for a late 2nd or early 3rd for Trey. Talk about an underwhelming return for an All Pro/DPOY finalist.

NE has 9 picks in this draft and plenty of money to work with. Their top picks are #4, 38, 69 and 77. It's been said that the Bengals are looking to get a late 2nd to early 3rd round pick in exchange for Hendrickson. The Bengals could ask for pick #38, to which NE might suggest #77, and they could settle at pick #69. NE has enough mid and late round picks to where they could easily trade back up into that range if they see someone they want. The Bengals, on the other hand only have 6 picks total. If they can get anything close to a top 50 pick, it would be a minor victory.
Still would rather have a quality player, one with a few good years left in him, in exchange for Trey.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I don’t believe the trade compensation, necessarily. That said, Leanord Williams was traded for a 2 and a 5. That was his age 29 season, so slightly younger, but Trey is coming off back to back 17.5 sack seasons.
I still maintain the position that you try and bring back a player and pick, knowing you won’t get back a young cornerstone of equal value.
Titans - Harold Landry and their 3rd
Colts - Deforest Buckner and their 2nd, we give up some later pick.
Washington - Jonathan Allen and their 2nd
These are all somewhat cap casualties, so maybe you could secure their services if/when cut. But their salaries are less than what Trey costs and they help fill a void while also getting an additional dart to throw.

I'm sure they talked with teams about compensation at the Scouting Combine...
I also agree it can't be ruled out that he returns if he doesn't get the deal he is seeking from another team. Remember just as we acknowledged the deep draft class at end, other teams see it too.

I concur with the last part. See my last post about potential landing spots and folks to bring back.

I'm not giving up Hendrickson for anything other than a 1st. He can sit out camp and threaten to retire. Teams understand the need for pass rush. You don't give up the leading sack holder for nothing. I don't care the age. Look for teams picking from 20-32, if they want pass rush help it's well worth the proven talent then drafting one that may need a year.
You can say that about us too if we draft 2 pass rushers in the 1st with the additional pick, but our defense needs more help then 1 player. They aren't a pass rush away from a SB. Any SB we get next season will be on the backs of the Offense. I have to assume those teams picking 20-32 think they are 1 player away (many do) which makes a difference in giving up a 1st.

Zadarius Smith and a lions second could also make sense.

Duke Tobin says they did not tag Higgins to trade him. They tagged Higgins to have more time to sign him long term. Bengals want not just Burrow already long term, but Chase and Higgins long term also.
We as fans can talk about what we would do if we were Owners, GM or Coaches, but that fact is we aren't. I again question this story that Bengals give Hendrickson the power to negotiate his own trade. If Hendrickson gets traded it will be something Bengals front office and another teams front office agree on. It could be story is wrong and Tobin has plans of Hendrickson here in 2025. I will believe Hendrickson traded only if it happens. There is a lot not to believe about this Hendrickson internet news story, especially a player being gave the power to negotiate his own trade, teams don't do that.

I could see him retiring if he gets a big contract and then wins a Super Bowl and just riding off into the sunset.
It is possible I guess. Hope it is us that gives him the big contract and wins the Super Bowl then...
There are good arguments on all sides of this. Trey has great value being the sack leader, but is it enough value for another team to
give up a late 1st round pick and pay him 35 million per year? Because I think that is what it would take for the Bengals to make a
Trey trade. Trey could very well shop around and come back and sign for 32 mil per year and it wouldn't surprise me and we are all
happy and Trey is a Bengal for the foreseeable future, we will see how this plays out.

We will see how FA shapes out. A lot of these EDGE needy teams could get one in FA. But yeah, the value for EDGE should go down
drastically by the time our 2nd round pick comes around.

I would like the Raiders 1st round pick and I am sure that is what the Bengals would want. That isn't a good trade for us.
Mayer has been a bust so far, but if we got the Raiders early pick for Trey and Mayer of course I would be for it. The Raiders get Trey,
our pick at 17 and we get their first round pick and Mayer. Sounds good.

Screw that deal. Maybe Trey for Mayer/1st round pick swap and their 3rd.
Did Brad write that article?

While I was all for the Bengals drafting Mayer I do agree with you, also I'd prefer Pitts if we are talking former 1st round TEs.
With that said I don't see the Bengals getting a 1st unless it's a swap. Something like Bears send 10th overall and a 3rd for Hendrickson and 17th overall.

I’m thinking Hendrickson to Atlanta for Pitts and their 2nd round.
