$24,5 million - It went up 4 million (maybe closer to Over the Cap so both are now similar)
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cincinnati-bengals/cap/_/year/2025
Minus Draft Pool offset - 5.3 million
Minus Practice squad - 3.5 million
Minus 5 million injury pool
I estimate they still have over 10 million minimum after all is taken into account
If they needed more, they could restructure Joe Burrow and free uo esily another 10 to 15 million
Bengals have the cap space to add one or 2 players still, question becomes will they.
What's the deadline to get back under the cap?
I still see the Rams still in the negative today, for example.
I bring this up because it seems the Bengals, yet again, are too conservative with the cap and could have done more the first 1-2 weeks of FA and worked to adjust afterwards as the dust settles rather than hold so much just in case.
Bengals could have gone and gotten 1 if not 2 more upgrades with the $10+ mill they still could use.
More than likely though, they'll say it's reserved for Hendrickson extension, which doesn't actually improve the team for 2025 even if he is extended.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

That's a good question. Everything that I read says that day was back on the 12th.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I may be wrong, but it seems based on tracking it, all teams have to be under the cap by Wednesday at 4 p.m. of each week once the league year began on Wednesday March 12.

This is with moss and Pratt still on the cap, right? Once moss is cut and Pratt traded or cut (maybe) those would create more room.

Yes
My guess is Moss is very likely gone since injured. That would gve us 3.3 million more. My hope is er replace Moss with our 5th round or 6th round pick, lots of very good running backs will still be avaiable. The rookie's contract is already calculated so no additional cap if we cut him and draft a RB.

Meanwhile the Texans, Chiefs, Ravens, Bills, plus a handful of other teams don't even have $13.8m in cap space that they can trot out the annual list of reasons why they can't spend their cap space... and the Eagles just make more space whenever they want or need it.

But that's the thing.
They have and had plenty of cap space to have signed another upgrade or two without going over.
They don't NEED to free up more.
But now most of the upgrades are gone.
There are still some options for Guard, but they've had 3 weeks to go get them and haven't yet.
I feel like the Bengals are so worried about next year and year after that that they never try to really go into the current season with a stacked roster.
Instead, they are waiting for pushed out cap for these true contender teams to catch up to them and the Bengals ascend to prominence that way, but it never happens.
Teams like the Chiefs and Eagles continue to find ways to kick the can down the road and get the most out of their draft picks quickly to compensate.

There is a long list of teams in need of a starting guard. This is the list from NFL network team needs.
Ravens
Cardinals
Cowboys
Dolphins
Lions
Seahawks
49ers
Eagles
Pats
Saints
Vikings
Chiefs
7 of the teams have more cap space than us, yet they also have yet to address it. One team KC created their need by trading Thuney likely due to cap issues.
I agree I wish the Bengals had some urgency. The issue is there is only 3 or 4 guys and 12 guard needy teams which creates a bigger market for good and not great guards. One is also hurt and still rehabbing. If it comes down to who has the most money, 7 teams can outbid us.
We are in the dark and have no idea if the FO is trying to get Hernandez, Risner, Scherff others. We do know the draft is weak and the guard free agent class is also weak.

If he is injured, I’d imagine he can’t be a cap cut. Most players have an injury guarantee at the end of their first contract year. At best, they could reach a settlement, but it will still hit the cap. And chances are he would not be willing to settle for less than the injury guarantee.

I have actually read that Risner, Scherff could be waiting to sign somewhere after the offseason to save some tread on the tires. After reading this, it could be more valid.

Allegedly the Bengals have an offer on the table for Schreff.
I think something is going on at guard. Either they are in an agreement with someone or there is some kind of understanding there. No other way to justtify the complete neglect there.
