Personally I wish we would have passed on Shamar but I don't hate the pick. I just know that its risky. He is definitely a boom or bust prospect and our first round track record lately doesn't exactly instill confidence in being able to develop him.  But we do have new defensive coaches and at this point we need to give them a chance. He needs to learn how to finish plays, theres no doubt about it. But what is inspiring to me is when you watch his tape, he is still active/disruptive. He does impact plays even if it doesn't end up on the stat sheet. He does draw attention from opposing offenses despite playing in a Texas A&M defensive scheme that doesn't seem to do many favors for their D lineman ( Walter Nolan didn't look nearly as good as Texas A&M and Nic Scourton took a step back from Purdue.) Shamar has all the athletic ability in the world and it does translate to the field so I think he is more than just a combine star. From what I can tell, he also seems to have the character and drive to want to take that next step which is important. I think that, despite his flaws, he is an upgrade over Murphy and Ossai and it wouldn't surprise me if he starts over them very early on. Heres to hoping this goes experiment goes the way of Mim's and not Murphy.

and them failing to replace Higgins is why they had to re-sign Higgins for big money

lmao this team is just vomiting on themselves constantly

But after watching his highlights (what little there is), he has good speed and strength. Quick off the ball. If he draws much attention, then Trey sets the sack record again, and our DL looks competitive.

I think we definitely plan to keep Trey, otherwise we wouldn't of reportedly offered him a multi year offer of 32 mil per year.

Shemar just needs to learn to keep his head up and learn to finish. These fundamentals can be taught. He has everything else, he is big, strong,
fast, physical and has a high motor like Trey. I have warmed up to the Shemar Stewart pick after watching his film and seeing what he needs to
work on. If we would of drafted one of the bad character guys that could of came back to bite us in the ass.
