Trey Hendrickson Update
(06-02-2025, 02:36 PM)J24 Wrote: ...To your second point. No, I do not think Trey will ask for a new deal next season if he is given a new extension this off-season.

Why wouldnt he ask for a new contract next year?  He has already proven he will ask for a new contract after he has already signed one the previous year.  I mean the guy asked for a new contract just 2 years into his 4 year contract after coming off a season where he posted just 8 sacks which put him as 18th best DE in the NFL for sacks.  You cant trust Hendrickson to play out his contract before demanding a new contract.

If they gave Trey 30M a year, that will hurt the team eventually
30 + isnt overpaying for the NFL leader in sacks.
Depends on how they right the contract. If they give him 4 years of guaranteed money then sure.If its a standard NFL contract than no it won't effect them that much.

It shows his character.  Why wouldnt he come back wanting more money if the Bengals gave him a new contract when 1) he was only two years into his first contract with the Bengals before going back to the Bengals wanting a new contract  2) After getting more money and a new contract, Trey wanted another raise less than a year after the Bengals caved and gave him an extension with 8 million dollars upfront.   You act like 2 years ago was a long time ago,  No Trey would never turn around and try to redo a new contract like he as done the last 3 years on his old contracts.  Why would anyone think that would happen?

I don't totally disagree, but you can't ignore he is under contract right now for 15.8 million. It is a big ask to demand the Bengals almost double his 2025 guaranteed money.

I have said it many times, restructure for 2025 with incentives for sacks and games played. Make him earn the extra raise in 2025, I think if Trey feels he will get 15 to 18 sacks again, he should not be offended he has to produce to get it.

Rumors are he was offered 28 million guaranteed in 2025, yet said no. Which side is attempting to compromise and which side is not?

I just don't trust rumored numbers. Did they offer him a raise to get to 28 million this year or did they offer him an extra year at 28 million? Big differences and we don't know the answer.

If 30 mil is not overpaying, then 28 mil should not be considered underpaying it is just a 2-mil difference not a huge amount of money considering the pay per year.

1.) 28 Million dollars isn't market value for an elite pass rusher. This has proven with the Daniel Hunter, Max Crosby, and Myles Garrett contracts. The FO is acting in bad faith by giving him that type of deal.

2.) The FO isn't willing to compromise on contract structure and their not willing to give out guaranteed money. So they are clearly not willing to compromise on deals.

What? That statement makes zero logical sense.

*The going rate for hamburgers is $20.*
You: "I'm not going to overpay for a hamburger by paying $15 for it."
Cashier: "Uh, sir, that's not overpaying, you're still short, hamburgers cost $20."
You: "If $15 isn't overpaying for it, then $13 should not be considered underpaying."
Cashier: "Sir, the going rate for hamburgers is $20."

Trey will end up getting a new deal and it will be mostly guaranteed money, and then he will get hurt and miss most all of the season. And the bengals will never give anyone another deal!

He can play for 28 mil this year or 16 mil this year that is his options.

What would you do? Pick one or the other do not make up some BS scenario.

I think that 28-million-dollar offer is out there with enough sources now that it's more than a rumor.

I think so too along with what was being reportedly being offered to Ja'Marr and Tee and then what they actually got.

Micah Parsons tweet sure made me think that him and Cowboys are closer to a deal than Trey which would suck. Micah is saying all the right
things and will be at Camp.

That is great news.  Some teams were offering a 2nd round pick in 2026, but the news was these trades would make Detroit or Chicago better.  The heck with those teams, I like Bengals D trying to be better...BACK TO THE SUPER BOWL.....GO BENGALS.

Come back, Trey! You now have a chance to sack Aaron Rogers for two games this year.

It is hard to reconcile the Stewart pick and still signing Trey to a long-term deal.

If we trade him, I would want Cosmi from Commanders.
