Notes From Training Camp 2025
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

DJ knows today was good but not enough

Gesicki for DC for all off our opponants

jake Browning is having a great camp...hopefully we never have to see that improvement in a game situation

Comment by Charlie Goldsmithon the difference between the guys battling for the back end of the WR room: Jones is the most versatile receiver and is stronger at the catch point, and Williams is the better downfield burner and gadget guy. They’ve both made plays.

WRs Marshall Tinsley and/or Cole Burgess could be the pre season player that many Bengals fans will be convinced that Zac ruined the entire season for when he cuts them

T Jalen Rivers is hanging with the 1's when he replaces Mims in the lineup. It would be great if we could see some development from him

So far Volson has shown nothing new in camp

Zac commented on the vastly improved communication among all levels of the defensive

I was optimistic for Volson with a new OL coach. It is sad to hear he is not producing.

Maybe good reason to go after Risner ot Hernandez more so now that Volson struggling and Patrick dinged.

Yeah, sadly I think the Volson experiment has to end.

Yep, looks like Volson is done, if Hernandez is still a question with health, bring in Risner to replace Volson.

I loved the Jalen Rivers pick, happy to hear he is holding up in Mims place at RT. I thought Rivers only played on the left side. Showing
some great versatility Rivers.

Rivers versatility could be huge if he could play 4 of the 5 OL positions. I also think he has upside as a potential OL starter in 2 or 3 years.

I think he could be a starter myself, he has really long arms and great feet. Usually makes sure he keeps his arms inside the chest too.

Miami has been putting out some good OL in Matt Lee and Jalen Rivers, I like both of these guys for the future.

What is the deal with Mims? Is he going to get surgery on his finger or just try to play through it?

Peters may be good at technique and evaluation. Pollack? Oh good gracious

Yep. Most drafnicks had him projected at guard in the pros. I'd love to see him turn into a better version of Cody Ford.

I know OG is getting most of the attention, but OT3 isn't exactly a strong point. Especially if Ford is starting at RG. Ford, Rivers, & Cochran are your candidates.

I did not necessarily mind giving Volson a shot in camp, but if he has not improved much ..go get Risner or Hernandez.

Risner isn't much of a run blocker, but was a top 20 G in pass pro, and he made LESS than Volson. Scherff likely is more expensive, and is also much better in pass pro. Hernandez a bit more well rounded/balanced, but coming off injury.

Of course, IDK what Fant is making. I think we have around $20 mil in cap space, but assuming Trey's raise is gonna take a big chunk of that.

Heard he might have to have surgery damn it. Might be out 6 weeks or longer if that is the case. Cry

Well, he played Guard at Miami, but he has really long arms too so he can play Tackle too and is doing that for us which is awesome.

I still think Patrick starts at RG unless we pick up Hernandez, Risner or Scherff or he gets injured again, we will see.

I actually like our depth a bit, Ford showed he is serviceable depth last year, Cochran played well a few times, but Rivers has the upside IMO.

He played both OT & G at Miami. OT the last 2 years.

I am hopeful Rivers is our huge surprise in a good way of the 2025 draft and Fairchild can become a very good OG within 2 years or so. We need to hit on the draft and if we hit on 3rd and 6th round OL picks in 2025 draft, it would help us for many years.

Bengals are off tomorrow and then next practice is Saturday evening at PBS. Anyone going?

Just listened to the Locked On guys...they were saying there is less movement of the young guys around on the line. They may go from right to left but they want them to learn one position well first before trying to teach them another. Learn to be a guard first before moving to tackle and vice versa. The more veteran players are playing the swing spots right now

To me that is a sign they are focusing more on the basics than in the last couple of years

Yes, people will be there

If Mims does miss time, the Bengals need to sign one of the FA guards out there and kick Cody Ford out to tackle until Mims is back. Then you have more solid depth.

It's mind blowing that they arent kicking the tires on either Hernandez or Schreff.

That could be a good thing, they've tried the "swiss army knife" approach to linemen and it didn't really work out. I see nothing wrong with dedicated Guards and Tackles.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Yeah, I know, he played LT and LG in all the vids I watched of him at Miami which is why I was a bit surprised he was playing RT.

You said most draftniks had Rivers playing Guard in the pros. Just saying with his long arms he can play both in the pros.

We need Fairchild to be good right away if he is our starting LG.

Good sign alright. Keep it simple stupid. The basics is where we need to get back to with our young team.

To be fair, we do not know if they have reached out to anyone.  All we know, is that they have not brought anyone into camp
