As I've said repeatedly, there is plenty to be critical of Dalton for, but when you make up shit about him, any argument you want to make about the man is null and void.

Eight  games under .500 the last three plus years with no winning records in any of them. Twenty five games over .500 his first five years in the regular season . The NFL asks what have you done lately. Dalton has done squat!

Aaron Rodgers is 10-12 the past 2 seasons and 52-26 his first five years as a starter. The NFL asks what have you done lately. Rodgers is a below average QB based on your logic. Whatever

You mention this almost as much as Pistons brings up how many years it’s been since our last playoff win...

Joe Flacco also has a winning record as a starter (96-69-0) and has won multiple playoff games, including a SB where he was MVP. That didn’t stop Baltimore from moving on from him.

That had alot to do with Greg Roman. Flacco doesn't fit Roman's type of offense.

No, it didn't. However, they moved on from him because he was getting old and the fact that they had a young QB who outplayed him last year - Flacco's QB rating was 84.2 and was 4-5 as a stater vs Jackson's QB rating of 84.5 and going 6-1 as a starter. Not to mention that Flacco hasn't had a QB rating over 85 since 2014 (in comparison Dalton hasn't had a QB rating below 86 since 2014).

Now, if we had a QB-of-the-future on the roster, then maybe we could give him a shot and eventually jettison Dalton, but we don't (though I'm still holding out hope for Dolegala being the greatest QB in NFL history and just needs a shot)

18-29-1 over the last 3+ years. Something like that.  Mellow

There you go again comparing Dalton to QBs who have won Super Bowls. Between you and Fred there is a definite lack of reality.

Or, it could have been that they had to overpay him after the SB win and they were finally able to get rid of an average/below average QB.

18-24-1. You may not remember this, but Dalton was injured after 11 games last year. You could say 18-23-1 if you don't count the game he left due to injury.

Still has a winning record over the course of his career.

No, i remembered. I posted that number in another thread. I was just going off memory and didn't recall the exact numbers in this thread.

Over the course of his career yes. But the last 3 years and 2 games aren't a small sample size.

And? Does Dalton NOT play the same position as Rodgers or Brady? If i said Dalton is not on the same level as Rodgers and Brady, aren't I still comparing him to QBs who have won Super Bowls? Besides, weren't YOU the one that said the NFL was a "what have you done for me lately" league?

BTW, since Dalton was drafted neither he nor Rodgers has won a Super Bowl.

No, they aren't a small sample size, but they aren't a large one either. Not to mention, it's not like Dalton has bad stats during that time span. They aren't great but they aren't bad as a whole: 941 comp 1517 att 62.0% comp% 10821 yards 68 TDs 32 INTs 89.7 QB rating

62% comp and an 89.7 rating are below average.

2016 comp% average was 63.5, Dalton was 12th at 64.7
2017 comp% average was 62.6, Dalton was 26th at 59.9
2018 comp% average was 66.0, Dalton was 28th at 61.9

2016 QB rating average was 91.2, Dalton was 15th at 91.8
2017 QB rating average was 89.2, Dalton was 18th at 86.6
2018 QB rating average was 95.4, Dalton was 26th at 89.6

You be the judge.

P.S. HOOORAY! The Bengals QB is average!  Mellow
P.P.S. Well, not really. But that's what you're saying

Is that really good enough though? It’s the most important position. If your QB is just average you have WAY less room for weakness elsewhere up and down the roster.

The past 3 seasons, yes, Dalton was average. Comes with having an OC that has no business being an OC and then being replaced with a bland OC. Not to mention the OL issues, but, Dalton was average the last 3 seasons.

I don't know why that shocks you. I'm sorry that I'm not making shit up about him like the Dalton haters.

Good enough? Yes. The thing is, Dalton has shown he can be a really good QB. The problem with Dalton is he can't overcome poor coaching and poor OL play. You give him a good OL, he can be an above average QB. You give him great coaching (which, IMO, he's never had), he can probably overcome poor OL and any other issues.

So, yes, IMO, Dalton is a good enough QB to win with but he's not good enough to do it by himself.
