The Ja'Marr Chase Thread
I can't find the Probowl thread but Chase currently leads for AFC receivers (fan poll portion).

Keep up the voting.

Just did and I voted for Spain at Guard too along with Burrow and Chase.
I think Chase has a big game tomorrow. Rookie of the week worthy.

He’s opened up the entire offense for the rest of the team.. no complaints here, he makes the most of his touches. About time Higgins had a big game !

For sure. Caught everything Burrow threw him today, and those screens were pretty effective. Should have had a TD, too, had Burrow stepped up in the pocket on the one sack. Chase was wide open in the back of the end zone.

And teams are going to have to start selling out to stop Mixon at this rate, which will ofc open up the deep shots to Chase again.

Yep. He is a baller. So tough to bring down. Also, again down field blocking his butt off on Mixon’s 32 yard run. As long as the winning continues, you won’t hear these guys complain. We’ve averaged 32.5 points in the last 6 games.

Agreed. Luckily we have a back like Mixon who will punish defenses for focusing Chase. It should swing back the other way soon, or at least teams will try to contain both...and fail of course.

I think he’s officially 2nd in the OROY chase now. But honestly: who cares?
He has totally come down to earth now for the last 3rd of season. His numbers are really pedestrian , averaging 4 catches for less than 40 yards a game..

Boohoo. Our offense has put up 30 or more points in 3 of those 4 pedestrian games.
It appears defenses are taking Chase away from Burrow and this contributes to the pedestrian WR numbers. Chase is fun to watch play whether it be short routes, the deep ball action, or blocking. I hope we get see a few big stat games from him that contribute to wins before the season ends.

It's a lot easier to run when teams play two high safeties as we are seeing. And should continue to open things up for Tee who could be the X factor now

ok.. so if Mixon ran for 340 yards in the next four games and we win 2 of those games, people would not actually discuss the lack of production ??  granted we have other WRs, I understand that but to point out that of the last 4 games we have seen a trend of low production in which we were 2-2 in those games is a fair post..

Yup.  The TD to Higgins was a big example of this.  The Steelers were in single high and despite the fact that Tee was lined up against James Pierre, a 2nd year UDFA, Fitzpatrick cheated to Chase's side presnap.  That's a huge mismatch and Tee and Burrow made them pay.

Yep and this isn't new either.  This is what teams do.  It happened with AJ, Andy and the crew during their good years.  AJ would blow up for 100+ yards, and go crazy for a few weeks, then teams would compensate and it would open it up for the other receivers and AJ would have pedestrian numbers for a few games.  Then teams would compensate back to cover the new favorite target and AJ would go off again.  Chase will go off again, when teams realize they can't cheat that way because Tee keeps killing them.  Also as the team has shown, they're going to continue to try creative ways to get the ball in Chase's hands because he's dynamic after the catch.  We'll scheme him into more touches.

Exactly. Teams are not going to keep doubling Chase if Tee is consistently doing this…

It really is a pick your poison type situation for opposing DB’s trying to shut down both of them.

Actually Mixon did that more than anyone over last two games.. Chase was in single cover also in the game, I agree he is more likely doubled but he is not always doubled and his production has taken a big dig over the last four games, I understand highly unlikely he was going to keep up that type of production but to be averaging what he has last four games starts to be a concern... im sure the coaching staff can help improve his production as they have more and more tape on any type of adjustments to start to increase his targets and  production upward as we head into latter part of season. On the positive he has 2 tds over the past four games which is a good sign

Here’s a couple plays from yesterday where Chase was WIDE OPEN. And they just happened to be a couple of the only mistakes Burrow made the entire game.
