Tomi Lahren claims she’s “never seen a first lady be attacked” like Melania Truump

(08-23-2018, 06:41 PM)fredtoast Wrote: I never said anything about your personal opinion.  All I asked about was where you see the mainstream media attacking Melania.

I am not saying you attacked Michelle, but you seem to know a lot about these attacks on Melania.  So where are they?

Two off the top of my head:

She wasn't allowed to talk to the 1st Lady of Spain about children welfare

She isn't allowed to talk about cyber-bullying.

And of course there are those questioning her immigration status and she didn't move into the WH immediately. But give it time; it's only been about a year. Michelle had 8.

As I said: I can look in the mirror and know I didn't slur a 1st Lady because I don't/didn't agree with her husband. I can pretty much say that about any wife, as well.

You've come in here and tried to excuse why it is ok the belittle her and you've doubled-down. Perhaps you could just agree with me that we should judge them and their actions as individuals

I think what Fred is saying (and if he's not, I am) is that those who spent 8 years attacking Michelle shouldn't be the ones crying about those criticizing Melania. As Fox and Trump Supporters are doing.

Fair enough?

Should be but we all know how this thing called politics goes.

Melania doesn't get attacked like Michelle did, and never will given what the mainstream media has accepted about her already. I mean she was a porn star w/ girl on girl action and is beloved by Evangelicals and didn't get any criticism for it from the MSM for crying out loud. How bad can she have it? Poor Michelle couldn't even show a shoulder.

So much for Trump supporters and Fox News pundits being against political correctness. Funny how when it insults them they are all for it. But when it insults others, they call them snowflakes. We must do better.

Alright, I'll leave you to it. You're triggering the next response anyway, so you two can have a good old never-tiring game of you're the worst, no you're the worst. Good fun!

Best post on here.

I have not tried to excuse anything.  I have just pointed out what a huge liar Tomi Lahern is.  that is the topic of this thread.

All you have done is bragged about hiw "fair and balanced" you are then spent the rest of the thread defending Melania, but not once saying anything to defend Michelle Obama.

Here is all Ihave to say abouyt. Fox news referred to Michelle Obama as Barack's "Baby Momma" and said she was overweight.  Mainstream media has never doen anything that bad to Melania.

This thread is not about YOU.  It is aboiut Tomi Lahern's commenst and the way the media has treated both of these women.  Calling melania a hypocrite for supporting her husband while caliming ti champion a fight against cyber bullying is not on the same level as calling the FLOTUS a "fat baby mama".  That is why i keep asking you for examples from the main stream media instead of message board crap.

Fox news aside; When I asserted that it was wrong to disrespect either you, Hollo, and a couple others asserted: "Well it's warranted in Melania because...."

I said plenty to defend Michelle when anyone slurred her personally. I've never said "well, mine is OK because it's not on the same level". Of course it's not about me; it's about a mentality that is sweeping the left: we can be disruptive, we can disturb folks trying to enjoy their evening, we can violently protest peaceful rallies, we can slur FLOTUS because.......

What is that you say about hypocrisy?

What is that you say about hypocrisy?

So if Melania killed a baby you would not condemn her for it because you don't believe in criticizing the FLOTUS?

I don't have a problem with people criticizing the First lady over any policy issue she inserts herself into.  If you disagreed with Michelle's work with the school lunch program I don't think you should be barred from criticizing the policy decisions she supports.

My criticism of Melania has to do with her hypocrisy of claiming to oppose cyber bullying at the same time she supports the most notorious cyber bully on the planet.  If people started accusing her of being a "*****" or a "gold digger" for being with Trump then I agree that is stepping over the line.  That is why I specifically cited cases of Fox News taking personal shots at Michelle by calling her "fat" or a "baby mamma".

And that is why Tomi Lahren (remember the topic of this thread) is a big liar.

Yeah, to each his own but I know I saw a difference between saying Michelle Obama was a pain because she was encouraging the government to tell people what to do versus saying Michelle Obama has a penis and is a man in a dress.

That reminds me of this amusing bit of legit criticism from the past:

Intellectually, I realize a smoker can tell me "Don't smoke, it's bad" and be sincere and the message still be true...but, there is also that underlying desire to say "Oh, shut up." Yeah, cyber-bulling is bad, thanks, she's right in the technical sense. Still, expect some eye rolling from that.

Pointing out the irony of Melania Trump slamming cyber bullying isn't a personal attack though. Not the way I see it.

Agreed. Along the same line, there's a fairly good argument to be made that Nancy Reagan's emphasis on the 'war on drugs' resulted in a lot of the misconceptions and insane amounts of incarceration we have in this country. That's not a personal attack on Nancy, just pointing out the craziness.

I think it was fair to criticize Michelle Obama's push to take fats and salts and sugars out of school diets; it's another thing when people talked about her body parts while referencing why she shouldn't be advising anyone on eating healthier.

I think it's fair to note the irony of Melania Trump curbing cyber bullying while being married to one of the most prolific cyber bullies to date. I don't think it's a criticism of her as a person, but it's a weird path all things considered.

I think there's a difference between asking that someone not be hypocritical in the policy they promote and calling someone a man.

Are people saying that she is?  I will admit there is sort of a tacit belief in this country that a wife supports and agrees with her husband that doesn't exactly carry over for the vice versa.

I am unaware of anyone claiming she did.  What is your point?

She is being called a hypocrite not because she cyber bullies anyone, but because she supports her husband who is the most notorious cyber bully in the world.

It would be like Ava Braun claiming she is against mistreatment of Jews but continuing to support her husband.

Only those calling her a hypocrite for speaking out against cyber-bullying

I see you've dug your heels in and further back and forth are fruitless.

My wife loves Drop Dead Divas, I do not; however, I still support her. Am I a hypocrite (or in your words "the world's biggest") if I say I hate Drop Dead Divas?

Wrong.  You are telling a lie.  No one has accused her of being a cyber bully.  Stop blindly believing everything Fox News (or whatever right wing source fed you this) tells you to believe.

No, but you'd probably sound a little odd if you said no one should watch Drop Dead Divas and that it should be taken off the air.  It's a little jokey to tell people they shouldn't be what your spouse is the biggest thing on earth.  This is Trump we are talking about, this goes beyond examples you and I can give from our real life.

Maybe this would be more akin to the spouse of Drop Dead Diva's main producer saying that it shouldn't be made.  Not sure...

If you tell the American public that your goal is to eliminate Drop Dead Divas while at the same not trying to get your wife to stop watching it then you are a HUGE hypocrite.

You're right.  She might just be trolling us all and laughing her ass off over pretending to be against cyber bullying.  That would make a lot of sense considering that when she went to the Mexican Border to show how much she cared about the issue of children separated from their parents she wore a huge sign saying that she doesn't really care.

But I am not willing to go down that path right now.  Instead I will take her claim that she wants to eliminate cyber bullying as the truth.
