It wouldn't make much sense for him to. He'd have to sue to get re-admitted. Then even if they allow him to go back and play, the Bengals would own his rights after the season(per Florio). Stewart's options are basically to play for the Bengals, get traded by the Bengals, or to just not play in the NFL. It makes me wonder why teams don't negotiate super, super hardball clauses more often if the deck is so stacked against the player tbh. It also makes me wonder why the NFLPA didn't iron out the rookie contracts to be even more cookie cutter than they already are.

If he returned to A&M, he would also be risking career ending injury before even getting back to the NFL. It would be a bad move for him all around.

Well, when you give 2 WR's that much money, you obviously have less for the rest of the roster. That's fine if guys play out there contracts. But, if they are under contract and hold out for more money...it hurts.

I said it once and I’ll say it again, you can’t outscore very team to win a championship. If our defense is no better than the last 3 years, expect more disappointment.

But that only works if you hold players to their signed deal, and not cave in to them wanting a new deal everytime the market resets. Otherwise, they are basically all one year deals.

I don't know that they're inept, but they don't optimize cap space and try to save money which sometimes costs them money.
With Burrow, this team will never be really bad. They know that they can field a middle-tier roster and win 8-9 games with Burrow. Then, if things break right win 11-12 games and maybe make a playoff run. That's precisely why you keep Tee and Chase. Have a high-powered offense.
But, yes...they aren't going to spend every penny to make a great offensive line and defense. They're going to rely on unproven young guys to take a leap. It hasn't worked.
And teams like the Bills, Chiefs, Ravens, and Steelers aggressively try to improve their rosters.

I expect our defense to be much improved this year with McKinley and Jenkins having a year under their belt, Knight replacing Pratt, and the DB's (especially Stone) thriving under Golden instead of struggling to understand Lou's coverages.

Hobspin really won that messaging war with some folks, didn't he? Continuing to inaccurately paint it as that. It is much more than that. It's an expanded Carl Pickens clause being forced in with zero compromise being given back in return. A clause the Bengals didn't have on any of their previous rookie wage scale players, and sure as shit didn't try to force in on the Chase, Higgins, Burrow, Gesicki, etc recent contracts.
The Bengals chose exactly one player as their guinea pig that they wanted to give a worse contract to, and they want to do it without giving anything back to offset that. He didn't even say he would be unwilling to sign that, just that he'd be unwilling to sign it without the NORMAL compromise in return that more of the guaranteed money gets paid out sooner. The Bengals refuse because they don't want compromise, they want submission.

If you sign players to fair deals, they don't get fan support when they come crying for more money.
It's as simple as that. If you play fair you get support. If you don't, you don't.
It's so easy to be a good front office when everything is basically laid out in front of you, with lots of precedent already set. The Bengals manage to **** it up every time with their scrooge ways being the culprit every time. Not bad luck. Not anything but being cheap.
