We are trying to mickel & dime Stewart and all he is asking for is what Mims got in the same spot.
We prioritize whatever we may gain from cheaping out over getting our 1st round pick, who is raw and needs development, in ASAP.
We are a complete joke. And deservedly so.
Honest Q - can you write in incentive language to rookie contracts?
Like, Stewart is slotted for 18M over 4, etc.
Then, on top, say...for each season in the first 4 you are the team, 10+ Sacks = 500K more. 15+ Sacks = 1M more? etc?

No. Not in the same way you put incentives in vet contracts. They're only snap related and there's a formula already in place for it.

Maybe that's why the Bengals are being the way they are.
They are seeing the bonuses Volson got just because of snaps and they don't want Stewart to get the same.
So what better way than to delay Stewart's development and give reason to play fewer snaps and avoid the bonuses!

Thanks, i sorta figured. But, im not really sure why the NFL would want that to be the case. Im sure the union would welcome it too....But i suppose even opening it up as an option would create delays, holdouts, etc.

Those are part of a league program, The NFL Performance Based Pay System. They have nothing to do with the language in the contract.

THAT is the Bengals thing, not the not signing yet part.

None of the other rookies had a problem signing the waiver. This is the first time I have ever heard anything like this regarding the Bengals.
Instead of leaking all this to the media, why doesn't Stewart and his agent stop being a ***** and just post what it is in the contract they dont agree with instead of leaking these rumors? If its really that big a deal, just say what it is. Nothing prevents Stewart or his agent from saying what it is they dont agree with. And lets not say they dont want the media attention for doing something like that when they have already leaked info to the media and put their narrative out there for everyone.

That’s scary. I’m sure he will pick up the slack once we let that bum sack leader Hendrickson walk. The only dude on defense last year and were playing hardball with him. SMFH

Yep, not sure that's a Bengal thing.
This is dumb.
Attitude is contagious. I'm betting the Trey situation has something to do with this.
It irritates me seeing Orlando in the video posted on the teams main page talking about the need to have urgency to win after being out doing work in phase 2 OTAs. How about leading by example front office and having some MFing urgency getting your #1 pick involved?
Ugh the Bengals just can’t help themselves. And if you want to say this is a Stewart issue I would counter that by saying it wasn’t hard to see this coming. I’m sorry but in just the little bit of pre-draft stuff I saw with Shemar and his father I could guess they would be a headache to deal with. Dad seems like a clown and to be honest, so does Shemar. He seems like a goofy kid who is just using his God given gifts to make a fortune. When Kay Adam’s compared him to Danielle Hunter his response was to talk about the big deal Hunter just got. Save this if you want. I’d bet a paycheck this guy is a bust. Why do the Bengals always pick guys like this under Zac?

That sounds like some mental gymnastics. The Bengals FO is blameless, as always.
