Didn't see this anywhere, but AJ Green was fined 11 grand just for punting the ball into the stands.
Seems stupid to me because the punt was very unlikely to injure anyone, which it didn't, and what makes it even more stupid is that it's almost half of Mike Mitchell's fine ($23,152), which the NFL is supposed to be (and has been, in other cases) taking a huge stance against head-to-head hits for player safety.
I guess when you play for the Steelers, possibly altering another player's life is only a little bit worse than punting a ball into the stands.
Here's the entire article:
Quote:You get a fine, you get a fine, everybody gets a fine.
Well, close to everybody.
Among the more than $138,000 in fines passed out from last Sunday’s Steelers-Bengals game was a fine of $11,576 to Bengals star wide receiver A.J. Green for punting the ball into the stands after his touchdown catch.
Green was letting some (expensive) frustration out after his team lost quarterback Andy Dalton to a thumb injury and the Steelers seized control of the game.
Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict racked up fines from three different incidents in the game totaling $69,454. Steelers safety Mike Mitchell got his team’s biggest fine at $23,152 for the hit on a defenseless player that knocked Tyler Eifert out of the game and this week’s game; the Steelers in total were fined more than $40,000.
I also love how the article kisses their ass, like everyone else, and acts like they're the victims of unspeakable bias of being fined "more than $40,000," but fails to point out that 40k leaves a remainder of almost $100,000 (100k) in fines against the Bengals.
Typical.

Dalton has been great at the beginning of the past two seasons. He seems to do well at the beginning of the season each year. Maybe some time off will make this playoff run seem like a new season for him (assuming he makes it back). He has a similar type run to the runs he has at the beginning of seasons and plays very well in the playoffs......
Just sayin, maybe the time off will give him time to approach the postseason like it is the beginning of the season. All speculation of course.

Per Schefter:
"As it turns out, NFL fined Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict today for hit on Ben Roethlisberger, per agent Audie Attar. Burfict appealing fine."
So after stating he wouldn't be fined, they changed their mind. I am sure there was absolutely no lobbying influencing this change...
Unbelievable double standards at play here, considering the eye gouging from DeCastro and a slew of dangerous hits and fighting from Steeler players.

Sorry if this was posted before - a bit hard to search and see if it has.
Moment with Andy Dalton
The basic concept is that players and other public figures will interact with fans for a price that goes towards a charity they are working with. Dalton is participating and although it's a bit steep, at least its for charity.
Anyways, a friend of mine forwarded it to me and thought it was interesting enough to post.

What If McCarron wins the 1st playoff game? |

Here is the bases of this question.
Macaroni plays well the rest of the season.
We get to the playoffs, and whether its the divisional round or the wild card round, Dalton is not ready.
McCarron actually leading a game winning driv, Or just playing lights out and wins us our first play off game. Not on the back of the defense.
Now add in Andy Dalton will be ready for the next week after.
Who are you starting for the 2nd game of the play offs? It could be the AFC TITLE game or the Divisional Round
Please tell us why
