The Backup QB Roster spot has a purpose that has hopefully been well thought out by the Bengals.
I have always thought that a Backup QB should be Rostered that appears able to Win around half of the games he plays in order to
buy TIME for the Starter to get back to health.
Did the Bengals Roster Jake Browning with an expectation that he can go .500 for a handful of games if needed ?
Was he Rostered to save money ?
There are 4 games until the BYE week and I would hope that the Bengals Rostered Browning because they think that he is capable
of at least splitting these 4 games. (2 Wins/2 losses)
If they don't believe that Browning can go .500 over a 4 game stretch, then WHY did they make him the Backup QB?
I am leaning towards Resting Joe Burrow through the BYE week based on the limited information that I have.
Jake Browning would face the Rams, at Titans, at Cardinals, Seahawks. Hope for at least a split (2 Wins/2 losses) then a healthy Burrow.
Cooper Rush backed up for Dallas in 2022 with little experience and won 5 straight games. I would take a split from Browning.
If the Bengals have no FAITH in Browning then they need to Re-evaluate exactly what they expect out of their Backup QB position
going forward. Sometimes backup QB's actually have to play.

Ok,
Here's my take on what should happen. We've all seen the results of Joe trying to play being unable and/or afraid of planting and running on that bum calf. His throws have no zip, he can't scramble, it's no good.
Sit him until after the bye week.
We have the Rams on MNF. Why let Donald put Joe in the hospital?
Then the Titans whom aren't a high scoring type of deal. Then the Cardinals and they're not among the who's who in the NFL. Then end up with Seahawks.
Lets try and sneak in a couple wins against this not so great competition, three if we're real lucky. More importantly get Joe healed.
Then make a real run over the last 11 games.

Keep Tee Trade Chase |

I know this is not going to be popular but I think the Bengals would be better off Trading Chase and Keeping Tee Higgins.
I believe Tee has a lot more ability as an NFL wide receiver due to his size and his ceiling in my view is higher. This is my opinion I know not a popular one but if between the two I am saying keep T and fill in some quicker WR.

Went to the game yesterday and was watching Chase a lot in the second half. Dude's body language was terrible. Throwing his hands up, slamming his helmet on the sideline. It also looked like he was actively trying to check himself out of the game and was giving up on routes.
Cause for concern or just frustrated in the moment?

Line feels worse than last year though we have faced 2 top 10 defenses. D seems better but less opportunistic the players except for Wilson Hubbard and Tre all left in FA Bates Bell and Apple the replacements may be better but less likely to give us the big play spark we got in previous years. First game I chalked up to the elements but Joe doesn't seem right feels like he was rushed back from the calf. Chase doesnt seem to be creating much separation this year which is concerning
