Rey Maualuga cleared for practice...per PFT
Rey Maualuga passes physical, comes off NFI list

The Bengals opened camp with two of their linebackers out of commission because of injuries, but they’ll get one of them back this week.
The team announced Monday that Rey Maualuga has passed his physical and cleared to start practicing after a stint on the non-football injury list. Maualuga was dealing with hamstring issues and his return gives the Bengals another piece to put in action while they wait for Vontaze Burfict to get his own green light after microfracture surgery.
This week’s Bengals practices will include joint affairs with the Giants on Tuesday and Wednesday, which may mean Maualuga is limited to work with his teammates in order to ease him back into the flow. The Bengals and Giants will open their preseason schedule on Friday and it seems unlikely that Maualuga will have enough practice work between now and then to take part in the contest.
Maualuga signed a three-year, $15 million deal to remain with the Bengals this offseason. He had 59 tackles and an interception in 12 games last year.

Does anybody know of a way to watch games for free on an android tablet? I know how to on a PC but those ways don't work on a tablet.
Figured I'd ask now instead of waiting 'til Game Day and rushing around like Brad after a fred post.

What could Mike, Marv and Dalton do to sway your opinion of them? |

Obviously the Bengals have enjoyed unprecedented regular season success over the last 4 years. They've also set NFL records for playoff ineptitude during the same span. Pretty much everyone places the most blame for that on either the Owner, Head Coach and QB for the failures. Or some combination of the three.
So what are 3 things that each one could do that would sway your opinion of them and make you feel close to 100% positive about them going forward? I'll start this off. Hopefully it gets some good discussion going.
Mike Brown
1. Build a practice facility. Marv wants one. The players want one. This alone should be enough to make fans want one as well.
2. Hire a GM. This might be something that should wait until Marv moves on, but a GM would help this franchise maintain continuity through coaching changes. It'd also fill Marv's void as a voice of reason to tell Mike Brown that trying a TE at Center may not be a good idea. I'd like to see Marv in this role if he decides to step down at some point, although I'm not sure he'd be interested.
3. Hold sub-par coaches and players accountable. Don't reward mediocrity with loyalty. Restructure a contract every now and then if warranted. Great franchises do this all the time.
Marvin Lewis
1. Be more aggressive in playoff games. I'm not one of those that always says Marv needs to be more aggressive. He actually has been much more aggressive lately, going for it on 4th down a lot, mixing in trick plays, etc. In the playoffs this seems to disappear though. It just feels like we've never had a creative game plan in a playoff game.
2. Find some natural leaders, and don't discourage them when they show this trait. This team is lacking in that category.
3. Find a way to get this team hot going into the playoffs. Easier said then done I guess.
Andy Dalton
1. Cut down the INT's. Pretty simple. 17-20 is just too many. 12-14 would be better.
2. Play better against the Browns. Dalton was fine against the Ravens and Steelers last year. Against the Browns, saying he's tough to watch is putting it nicely. It just seems like he sails every throw. It's tough to figure out why Dalton can look good one week, then look like this against the Browns (or occasionally other teams).
3. Find a target not named AJ Green that he relies on regularly. MLJ and Eifert are obvious candidates. Dalton pretty much ignored Sanu when AJ was healthy last year. It makes our offense extremely predictable when opposing defenses only have to worry about stopping AJ Green.

MJ injury opens door for Hardison |

Hardison, a fourth-round pick out of Arizona State, started out playing the three technique but when right end Michael Johnson went down with an MCL sprain the third day of camp Hardison moved to end and is playing both. The 6-3, 315-pound Hardison had been viewed as a project inside, but he’s responded well to playing both.
“He’s a great athlete, big kid, his future looks bright,” Guenther said. “It’s OK (he’s playing both.) The more they understand the better. Playing on the D-line is not all that complicated. Know where you have to be and he’s doing a good job with that.”
I have said all along that I liked Hardison, but that he needed a yaer to get bigger and stronger (especially his base) in order to play DT. Looks like he might get a shot to get some snaps earlier at DE.

GUYS TO WATCH: Defensive coordinator Paul Guenther has been overseeing an impressive camp and he’s been getting some interesting play from veteran linebacker Chris Carter.
The 6-1, 240-pound Carter, a fifth round pick of the 2011 Stealers, has played 33 NFL games, three for the Bengals late last season. A linebacker who was a college defensive end, Carter has been virtually unblockable this camp pass rushing off the edge.
“I told (Carter) in the meeting this morning he’s got a chance,” Gunether said. “He’s got some juice off the edge. He’s got good bend. If he continues to play at this level, I’ll put him against some of the first-team tackles (in the preseason games), if he continues to improve he’s got a chance.”
But where do you put him? He’s been a 3-4 backer and he’s trying to adjust to the WILL spot. There are too many defensive linemen to stash him on the 53-man roster there and would he be able to play backer well enough to be what is probably one of the six?
“Where he has value of us is in the rush,” Guenther said. “If we could get (Carter) to learn a linebacker in case someone goes down, he could go in and be both things.”
Carter could conceivably do what another former Stealers outside backer did for the Bengals in 2013 when they put James Harrison as an outside linebacker in base and pass-rushing end in nickel. Except Harrison didn’t rush as much as he probably thought he was going to do and probably played more backer than he thought.
“The more of those guys you can swing in there on Sundays the better you’re going to be,” Guenther said.
This guy has great speed (4.62 forty),quickness (6.88 three cone drill), explosiveness (36 inch vertica), and strength (27 bench reps). He was the WAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 when he had 11 sacks, 16 TFL, and 4 FF. He has bounced around the NFL for a few years now so I don't expect him to suddenly become a star. But then again look at what Dan Skuta was able to do when he finally found the right system for him in San Francisco.
I doubt Carter becomes a star, but the bottom rung of our LB corps is wide open. And you know a guy like this could be great on special teams. So I wouldn't be shocked to see him make the team and play very limited snaps as a pass rush specialist.

...cuz I am so ready to take a big drink.
Nobody can cover Eifert, Geno is ruining practice, Burfict coming along, the young CB's look very ready, Alford has scary speed, Andy is tearing it up in the no huddle, AJ on a mission, Whit and Andre in the best shape of their lives, on and on.
Stop it. Just please stop it. I am not strong enough to resist.
There is a different feel to things. Ignore it.
I tell myself I have to look at like this--
Yes, it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, but I'm gonna have to see it fly.
I tell myself this. Does no good.
Am I the only one barely restraining the giddy welling up inside? Anybody got some words of discouragement to put out any of the fire? This is not a question I would normally ask.
