  Andy's Punchability Factor
Posted by: Rotobeast - 08-13-2015, 12:17 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (36)

Apparently Will Brinson feels that our beloved Andy Dalton is the 3rd most punchable QB, in the NFL.
I've criticized Andy, but I don't think he even remotely belongs in the top 5.
:snark:

---------------------------------------------
Geno Smith is finally a top-5 NFL quarterback*

1. Cutler
2. Rivers
3. Dalton
4. Geno
5. Manziel
*most punchable

Thoughts on Tate and the TE's
Posted by: Blake2Pickens - 08-12-2015, 09:02 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (14)

I would hope that we soon see the release of BTate (Along with Peko, but I am resigned to the likelihood that he will stay)

Mario Alford has so much more upside and ability, it would be a shame to have Tate taking up a 53 man spot over him.  Alford has better hands, is quicker, can take the top off any defense, and is much more electric in the return game.

Also,  does anyone think the Bengals carry 4 TEs into the opener?

Hewitt, Kroft, Eifert and Uzomah all seem like they are going to make the team.

  DiManche?

After having high hopes for the undrafted linebacker I have heard nothing about him during this camp. Has anyone? Probably not a good sign.

  Naked Andy?!

So I was watching this interview with our 4th string QB Wenning, and Andy totally strips down in the background!

WTH!

If you ever wanted to see Andy's smooth pale buttocks, now is your chance.

Is Obarski any real competition for Nugent?
Posted by: fredtoast - 08-12-2015, 11:41 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (17)

Anyone know how Nugent and Obarski are looking in camp?

I see a note every once in a while that says how many each made or missed, but I have not seen anything that compares the two or says which is looking better.

I never really considered Obarski a threat to Nugent, but I would still like to know what is going on with them.

Dalton's Showing Fire In Camp! (And 4 Other Camp Notes)
Posted by: BFritz21 - 08-11-2015, 10:24 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (57)

CincyJungle had five notes from day 10 of training camp, which was a joint practice with the Giants.

Bodine had a bad snap on the second play of 11-on-11, and Andy got fired-up towards him:

Quote:"We can't have that! The snap is first thing we got to put away!"

I absolutely LOVE that because he's taking control and being a leader, and having everyone in check on the field and following him will only bring positive results.

Then, Bodine messed up another snap right after that and Andy got fired-up again, which is something that Hue wanted from Andy.

It's huge because the team will respond to his enthusiasm, passion, and demand for perfection, so it has me VERY happy.

Other notes include Mario Alford, the seventh round pick out of West Virginia, working his tail off and looking better than everyone that's not named AJ:

Quote:He was one of the stars of Saturday's mock scrimmage, and he parlayed that into another strong showing Monday afternoon. Alford has already made it clear he's ready to work his tail off just to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. His actions in practice have reflected that, and if the final roster were made today, he'd be on it.

It mentions how Andy's meshing well with the tight ends, which, if the short time before Eifert was hurt last season is any indication, I'm pumped by this news because our tight ends could make our offense scary good:

Quote:However, all three have played well throughout camp, and that continued today with Eifert and Kroft having good showings. Dalton has made sure both guys stay involved in the offense throughout camp

There's a video of him hitting Eifert with a very pretty deep ball. I love even more that it was against the Giants' D.

I'm just praying that we see two-tight end sets more often than not.

Last two notes are Marvin Jones is looking good and that McCharron was held out of practice but should be fine.

Clint Boling + McCarron not practicing.
Posted by: milksheikh - 08-11-2015, 05:08 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (35)

According to reports, Clint Boling had left practice early yesterday and hasn't been seen today, McCarron wearing street clothes as he has a "day to day" Rib injury.

Thoughts on this?

  Position Battles: Linebacker
Posted by: BURROWorBUST - 08-11-2015, 03:00 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (34)

We face some tough decisions come cut days.

I think we figure to keep 7 LBs.

I consider these 4 to be Locks
55 Burfict, Vontaze LB 6-1 250 24 3 Arizona State
47 Dawson, P.J. LB 6-0 240 22 R Texas Christian
50 Hawk, A.J. LB 6-1 240 31 10 Ohio State
58 Maualuga, Rey LB 6-2 255 28 7 Southern California

Probable Locks (or are they?)
59 Lamur, Emmanuel LB 6-4 245 26 4 Kansas State
57 Rey, Vincent LB 6-0 255 27 5 Duke

That's already 6, leaving this group competing for the last roster spot. Four, and at least 3 (if we keep 8), of them face being cut.

49 Carter, Chris LB 6-1 240 26 4 Fresno State
51 DiManche, Jayson LB 6-1 244 24 3 Southern Illinois
53 Flowers, Marquis LB 6-3 250 23 2 Arizona
52 Johnson, Nico LB 6-2 255 25 3 Alabama
56 Porter, Sean LB 6-1 235 24 3 Texas A&M

Practice Squad
PS 45 Roach, Trevor LB 6-2 237 23 R Nebraska

Roach is the only one, besides Dawson, with any PS eligibility

How do you see it shaking out?

  SICK Derron Smith Interception!
Posted by: BFritz21 - 08-10-2015, 11:39 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (27)

In training camp, Derron Smith made a one-handed interception!

Dude's a rookie and seems a bit short at 5'10, but he seems like he has a knack for sprinting around the field so he always ends up in the right place at the right time and then always seems like he comes up with the big play.

Looks like he could be a steal coming from the 6th round.

If nothing else, he could bring a spark to our secondary and continue the youth movement.
