The Chase thing doesn't just suck because Ja'marr didn't get an extension.  It sucks because it's basically the first real sign that they might not be able to hang with the rest of the league in terms of cash flow. Or, (since that's mostly a given) that they will run into major competitive disadvantages as a direct result.  The cap has insulated them, but the guaranteed money could really turn them into a Reds-like entity.

It sucks having Bob & Phil Castellini and Mike Brown as the owners of your two favorite sports teams.

That's a good thing maybe he can now concentrate on winning football games and not be distracted like Bates I think was. He'll get his payday.

Everyone knows the Bengals do not negotiate during the season it has been this way forever but nice try trying to make people think that was your choice Chase.

I also seen a story claiming the Bengals misled Chase. They put an offer on the table of 30 mil signing bonus, 35 mil a year and 90 mil guaranteed and you refused that to play for 1 mil this year. It was not the Bengals that misled you it was your agent or your ego.

According to ESPN, his insurance policy for the year is $ 50 million:

"Chase also has taken out a $50 million insurance policy on himself for this season to safeguard against injury and any potential lost earnings. As one source said about Chase, with the insurance policy in place, "He's good."

Yes the two WR not paid being on Bengals is the players fault not the Bengals. So the Bengals FO isn't bad just Taylor is bad at getting character guys got it.

Likely will demand a trade...or the price goes way up as more guys sign.

My conflict in this is he's only played 3 years of a 5 year deal. If it was after year 4, I'd have more sympathy.

Can MB petition the league to let him have enough franchise tags to keep all the players who demand a trade?

I feel like the Bengals have been good about offering more money, but they haven't been good about changing the contract structure.

If Chase were a free agent, most teams in the league would sign him to the exact deal he wants.

So now what? The Bengals likely won't budge. He has 2 years left. They likely go wr in the draft when they have bigger needs. They won't trade him. He holds out next year. Will they tag Tee again?

The whole situation sucks and will hurt the product on the field.

Largely what we evidence of frequently is that Burrow and Chase were the catalysts of the SB run. Not some amazing shift in coaching or management.

Well of course Burrow and Chase would be the catalysts of driving this team during SB season but the moves the team made on defense, also was a big reason for the SB run especially in the playoffs. Burrow's numbers in playoffs were below regular season but Chase had a good playoff run.  If our oline continues to perform well this year and we do get on a run into the playoffs, i think we will have to give credit to coaching/management for hypo run.

Adam continues to have soso info.. even in the article by CBS sports today, no mention that Chase would not sign a deal during the season,

Sam Darnold vs the 49ers and they can still get the ball to Jefferson.

Zero excuse why this team can't find a way for Burrow to get the ball to Chase.

Seen a podcaster say all the big names signed already so next year there will be no big named guys with really high production needs signed except for Chase. They are not going to top Jefferson's contract by signing mid-tier guys. The cap will increase so that might affect it, but Chase had a good offer and refused it.

On that list only Cooper and Allen had more yards than Chase last year. They were ranked 10th, 11th, and Chase was 12th on the list. Everyone else was 4 to 5 spots behind Chase.
If Chase cannot beat a CB and Safety deep, then he does not deserve top WR money. So, the Bengals offer was very generous, and he should have signed it.

I do not want them to sign any WR that wants top money the price is not worth it. The way we draft WR we should just invest a 1st or 2nd round pick on WR and use the cash saved for the rest of the team.

When has Joe given him a chance?  Until we start targeting Chase much more Im not sure this argument is completely valid.
