I saw this earlier and thought it was an interesting comparisons. 
What's his floor? Producing an avg. of 1.5 sacks per year and 11 TFLs over a 3yr span that gives him the lowest TFL production of a drafted DE since 2000. I would say his floor is pretty dang low. I'm more curious what his ceiling is? A mid level player? Is that what we took such a risk for? 
Why didn't we take Jihad if we want to take a risk atleast we have the hope of a game changing playmaker at linebacker. I also think this is the end of Trey i don't see a world we use two 1st rd picks at a position and still pay a player a premium salary at said position. I mean we our the worst organization in the NFL. It's bad enough we apparently plan to force Trey to play out his final year but now we are gonna ask him to play it with the 1st rd pick. No other team in the league does this. Mind numbing how dumb we are. 


But I have seen as far as play time is Murphy will share time with Trey at RDE and he has looked best there while Ossai, Sample and Stewart share LDE. 

I have no idea how you made a prediction for what you would consider Stewart a good pick? That was the question.

We have to stop Lamar Jackson and Nick Chubb four times a year and players like Shamar can do it. The Bengals’ run defense hasn’t exactly been stellar and this pick will help stop the leaks.

Yes but he needs to learn a better get off, more balance and controlled rushing, to develop a better pass rush plan, to use his hands better and also to expand his play awareness. 

The thing that scares me is he has done okay at pressure rate. But he has failed to finish because he's often out of control in his rush. So if he tries a more controlled approach then does his pressure rates drop? 

I mean he didn't even remember meeting the Bengals. I guess we met with him at the combine but how much homework could we have realistically done if he doesn't even remember the meeting. 
 
I don't mean to be a Debbie downer but we have to look at this honestly. The Bengals are just not good at drafting. Which especially sucks because we way overvalue draft picks and think we can easily replaced the NFL sack leader with a guy that is not very good because he's a 1st rd pick.

Well, that was interesting. The draft day thread, as pick 17 approached, was all these posts on "just don't take Stewart." It was good to see you advocating for him back in March.

I thought you asked what his floor was? A prediction of his TFLs and Sacks and how the playtime would shake out? 
I would guess about 20-30 snaps a game 300-400 snaps this year. 3 TFLs and 1 Sack 8 solo tackles.

That is what I figured out with research as well.

Lamar is hard to hit squarely, but would love Stewart to face plant him on one of his runs hopefully tracking him down from behind.

I agree Pally. A player will never improve if they don't feel the need to improve. He is very self aware of his weaknesses.

I raise my hand. I am extremely guilty before and after.

I did a poor job on research and trusted those saying he was a workout warrior and bad football player.

As far as reputation until recently we rarely cut players or made them take a pay cut. MB was known for being very loyal. I ask you, what did it do for us on the football field or attracting players to come here. FA's will come here if you put a winning team on the field and won't if you don't. They will come if you give them a fair contract, not the rest of the team.

If Trey is demanding 32 million in 2025, if I am Katie I tell the agent when you get serious about an extension call me, but right now we are not close to being on the same page.

If Katie and the team had their mind in the right arena, they would have already set Trey up with an extension prior to the market busting deals that came out after the conclusion of the league year. It's not Trey's fault that other teams are paying more for guys who did less than him.

No it was probably my fault I read the 1st part and skimmed the rest. I'm just bummed because the draft is a time of hope and excitement and I just can't find any with Stewart. To me to be happy looking back in 3 years he will need to develop into a 5-10 sack a year guy who causes a couple splash plays a year. If he can have #s like that his 3rd year i would say he met our expectations.

At least they didn't select a RB

The measurables are there and we have a new defensive coaching staff. I can't hate that they picked the right position, risky (as usual), I will reserve judgement until preseason.
