Think you are correct. Paid Mike G, oh well, I think Mike is going to have a good year, especially scoring TD's after only scoring 2 last year.
Noah helps open up Mike G and this Offense.

But 1 year of Fant does buy us time. He couid stick around. Another draft. Another round of FA.
At least Taylor seems to have had his eyes opened on the value of a good 2 way TE.
Yes sir, Zac and Pitcher value the versatile TE from the All pick and now Fant. I like it.

It is interesting that Gesicki's contract is essentially a one year $12M deal - if Bengals would move from him.

Noah Fant 1 year 2.75m that could be 4.25m with incentives.

That is a 'prove it' deal and wonderful value for the Bengals.

Thats a solid deal with training camps already started. I'm sure its based on games played and yardage. I'm betting he gets the full amount if heathly. I'm predicting a line of 40/500/5 which is solid as a #2 TE

Maybe it's the photo angle, but those are some damn big arms for a TE

Wow
That is a great value contract.
Awesome job FO
Still plenty of money left to extend Trey already in 2025 cap

I’m really excited about Fant. But he was definitely a cap saving casualty for the Seahawks. They were moving towards Arroyo their rookie TE. But he was a steal. But Seattle recruited a rookie who can start over a guy making 8.5 million. We need more rookies starting than developing. It’s hurt us. But ‘24-25 better in that regard.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

I agree on the rookies. We do have 2 potential DE starts Stewart and Murphy who only make 3.4 million (cap hit) each. If either produces for 4 to 6 sacks and is good against the run, they would be great value starters.
The same with Knight who with a cap hit of less 2 million. A starting LB making less than 2 million is also a steal. Now, he needs to produce, but if he does it helps balance the huge contracts on both sides of the ball allowing FO to be build a solid roster.
I was shocked to see the Fant numbers and yes he was definitely a cap casualty. Now we need a vet OG who is talented be cut because the team drafted a rookie.
Or we have the cap space still to extend Trey and add a guard also like Hernandez or Risner. I am sure Scherff's heart is still in it at age 35, but also a possibility. I would guess none of these guys has a high market, unemployed when camp starts is not a resume for getting paid big bucks.

well unless Tre moves from full guarantee of three years, cap does not matter.

My bet is that Fant will play the most offensive snaps of any of our TEs. If his blocking aligns more with 2023, then he'll eat a ton of Sample's snaps. If it is more like 2024, then not as much.
Last year: Sanps, Games/Starts
Sample: 655, 17/15
Gesicki: 523, 17/3
All: 231, 9/6
Hudson: 119, 11/0
Grandy: 75, 8/6
McLachlan: 5, 2/0
I think Fant takes all of All's snaps, which would have been double 231 if not injured, and a chunk of Sample's as well. Hudson will play less (if he makes the 53 at all), Ditto, Grandy.
Fant, Gesicki, & Sample will take the lion's share of snaps. Grandy getting some short yardage/heavy snaps and blocking reps if Sample gets dinged.
TE5, if we carry 5, is an inactive candidate and won't play much. Though Hudson did get snaps on specials last yearxas TE4. Fant & Gesicki won't play specials.

Depending on how the cap hit shakes out, around $21.7 mil to $20.2 mil in space, pending Trey's deal. $3 mil for PS.

I agree Fant takes from Sample and will get most TE snaps due to being a 3 down TE.

Good news is we could give Trey a 14 million bonus in 2025 and still sign a guard if they choose to. I just don't see the guards left getting a great deal (for them) so likely less than 3 million cap hit in 2025.
Good news also is we have 61 million in what over the cap calls simplified restructure potential if more is needed in 2025 for Trey.
We are great shape cap wise in 2025 and also looking ahead to 2026.

Yes but in Seattles case Arroyo a true rookie starts. Murphy is in his third year. It’s what’s holding us back. Baltimore and Philly starting a bunch of starters from 23-24.drafts. Philly 7. Baltimore during that period found a bunch of starters. How about us? CTB? Dax? both battling as a starter. Mims yes he’s a legit hit. Chase Brown yes. Complaining about our free agency or lack thereof shouldn’t be the mantra. Our drafting in 22-23 sucked. It’s holding us back on our roster on several levels.

Surprised the Fins didn't offer Noah more than that. Great value for us and he is younger than Mike.
We will see how they do this year, I would like Noah for more than just one year, I don't think he has sniffed his potential in the NFL.
Love those Iowa TE's, they know how to play football and Noah Fant is an athlete.

I don't disagree, but complaining about drafts won't change anything either. Teams miss on picks, FA is the tool to compensate for bad drafts. All we can do is hope 2023 and 2024 don't look as bad after the 2025 season as they do now and hope the 2025 draft was very good.

My guess is after seeing this low contract, Fant chose to sign for 1 year banking on him getting one more long term deal in 2026. Bengals will know if he is worth that contract next year. To me worse case scenario is he has a great 2025 and signs elsewhere for big bucks and helps us get a 2027 comp. pick.

Plus good coaching could of turned those picks into better than what we got.
Pretty easy to just blame Duke for bad picks. The coaches have to coach up the players.
I am not an FO defender, but the coaching is what has sucked around here IMO.
I am liking what I am seeing this TC with the coaching.

Yep, I am expecting a big year out of Mike G at the very least with the Fant signing, good thing we have him for 3 years.
Burrow knows how to spread the ball around and his TE's last year had a good year. Fant will definitely get his if he stays healthy.

My guess is that they love their 11 personnel with both Fant & Gesicki. Just the versatility. You know the key to this offense is burning teams devoting too much to Chase and Tee. If they employ 6 DB’s good luck with Chase Brown on a screen or in the run game. If they have 5 DB’s good luck doubling both Tee & Jamar. We are not going to be easy to defend. It’s puzzling though on their thought process on RG.
