Chase not Practicing

They are working on the extension and should be announced today or Tuesday. No freak injuries while they're crossing the t's and dotting the i's.

I have no facts to back this up and it's pure conjecture, but it's what i believe is going on.

Saturday there was no practice so bfine was saying Chase did the same thing other WRs did which was not practice.

Happy Ja'Marr is at practice. Already saw some vids of him working in the Offseason, he is in the best shape of his life.

I am not concerned. Hope BengalBob is correct and we are working on the details of his extension.

It makes sense for the Bengals to try get it done this summer but you look at JJ on the receiver show saying he loves football and was never going to sit out and then see what Chase is doing and it leaves a bad taste.

Neither the Bengals or Chase are going to look good coming out of this unless they can meet in the middle and soon.

Chase is locked in for 2 more years on his contract.  If you give him an extension now he is going to want more money this year and next year when his cap hit should have been lower on a rookie contract but now it wont be since you are moving part of that extension money to 2024 and 2025.  

That doesnt sound bad because you are lowering his cap hit in later years.  The problem I can see happening though is Chase pulling a Trey Hendrickson and complains about not getting paid enough in later seasons because you gave him more money upfront which lessens the actual amount he would be paid in later seasons.

Exactly. Even if he is holding in over contract details, this is not the days of Andre Smith types holding out then coming in fat and out of shape. Chase could start playing tomorrow if there was a game. He's in fantastic shape and has thousands of reps with Burrow.

I read ZT said Trey had minor injury Day 1, so probably why he has been out, Chase seems like sitting out because of contract.

Joe Burrow starts off sluggish: Not his fault it's because he didn't get a full training camp

Oline starts sluggish; It;s because they didn't get any preseason game snaps

Ja'Marr refuses to workout in Training camp: I'm glad!!! He's in the best shape of his life!!!!! He doesn't need traIning camp.

You ever think we just make excuses for our favorites? I guarantee if a WR on a team we didn't like was refusing to practice w/ 2-years left on his contract. The same folks wouldn't have the same opinion. Matter of fact, terms like Spoiled brat may get thrown out. I'd like to think my fanhood doesn't get in the way of my rationality, but who knows. Fan is short for fanatic for a reason.

As I understand it, the departure of Boyd means Chase will be playing mostly in the slot this year with Burton taking Ja'Marr's old spot. I'd personally like to see that group get some practice together, but probably not required because Ja'Marr is in great shape.

Yes, if it was regular season it would be different.

Also heard Chase has been not practicing as much because he wanted to let the young guys get as much chemistry with 
Burrow as possible. Like you say, Burrow and Chase already have about as good of chemistry as any QB/WR duo in the NFL.

You have to take each scenario as it's own. What does Chase sitting, actually being a sideline coach to the new guys, cost us. Do you really think he needs the reps, (he's doing plenty of catching on his own) or is it more beneficial to let guys like Burton and Yoshi have more time with Burrow throwing to them. If Chase wants to give up some of the training camp reps, that can be more of an advantage than a disadvantage due to Chase already being an elite receiver. If he gets hurt, we will be glad Burton and the rest got the extra time.

Ja'Marr Chase is refusing to practice with his team because he wants more money with 2-years left on his contract. You and others can put a "happy spin" on that if you want. 

I'll call it just like i would any other player in the NFL. I absolutely love Trey Hendrickson and he may be my current favor Bengal, but when he pulled his trade demand, I commented on it for what I thought it was. Never once did: "O Boy, Trey already knows how to rush the QB and is in great shape. He he decides to holdout it will give folks like Murphy and Ossai more reps in practice!!"

Didn't falsely quote anyone, but if the shoe fits.....

Sure you can assert I' overreacting (unsure about what) but it seems some are "over-excusing" in this case and they may not do so for all players. They could be called spoiled brats

It used to be they could "sit out" and get fined, but it was up to the team to enforce the fine. It was widely known that teams would excuse this fine once the player returned. The last CBA they took the ability to excuse the fine for sitting out . So players started showing up, but not practicing; as there's no current rule in place that states they must participate in drills. 

This way players like Ja'Marr with 2 years remaining on their contracts who don't need to practice can just walk around while everyone else out their sweating can bask in his awesomeness

As far as drills go I think they can. PK and Milz have been talking a lot about it lately on Sirius. I do believe they must do mandatory things such as meetings, but when it comes to "on the field" I assume any player could say "I don't feel like it". Now many would get cut on the spot, but that's not happening to players like JC.

Alright, I can see your point. A lot of these guys are spoiled, especially WR's who become divas more than any other position.

Even saw in the new locker room where Burrow got a fridge in his locker Ja'Marr said he was a little salty about it and Joe said to 
Ja'Marr..... "you can put your stuff in there buddy" lol
