I'm not saying they didn't. I've said all along I was conflicted about keeping Lou. But I am also not naive enough to think a new DC is going to be a silver bullet. The names I really wanted to see on this list are the DB coaches. Hopefully they are coming.

As much as I dislike Lou, he had one of the worst rosters to work with. Not even Spags could make a secondary composed of Geno Stone, CTB and Josh Newton work. Lou's going to be the sacrifical lamb, but the idiot ruining this team is safe and he won't be fired not matter what. Tobin is the one who should be fired.
Thank you Lou.

Hire Saleh for DC, double the scouting department, and overpay for the best OL coach you can find.
Everything in this post is my fault.

Its a start but the main issue is still here and calling the plays and making bad decisions

The case for firing Zac Taylor
Taylor is now 46–52–1 as a head coach in the NFL coming off a season in which he had an MVP-level player (Joe Burrow), a Triple Crown winner (Ja’Marr Chase) and a DPOTY performance (Trey Hendrickson).
Even worse, Taylor is 17-36 in one-score games. He’s just 13-23 against the AFC North.
Perhaps worst of all, he’s just 1-11 over the first two weeks of a season. The team started 1-4 this year. 1-3 last year. 0-2 in 2022. 1-1 in 2021, the win in overtime. 0-2-1 in 2020. Technically, 0-11 in 2019.
Taylor was a developmental coach when the Bengals hired him, which was fine. But the development hasn’t been there (a quarterback equivalent would have been benched long ago). The lack of readiness, in-game decisions and results just aren’t there
you mean Zac Taylor whom ran one of the top offenses in the league

Unfortunate for them, but the right move in all cases, I think.

TOO FUNNY...the person ..or the people that provided these coaches with the marginal players are the ones that should be fired

I think he was carried not only by the teams talent but a big part of the success that season was Lous ability to adjust and lock down in the second half of games.
This team has kept most of its offensive talent and worked (unsuccessfully) to build an oline.
However they have not kept the defensive talent and lou hasn't had much to work with.
I'm not saying it's not time for a change but I don't think it'll matter much if Zacs still here.
Pollack probably needed to go a long ass time ago.
you mean the same Zac Taylor that ran one of the best offenses in the NFL

That is where I am at.
Still, he must have thought the Rankins/Reader swap was a good idea, and Nick Scott, and letting Bates walk, and the Murphy pick, and Stone. And he waited WAAAAY too long to make adjustments this year. That Steelers home game was the worst defensive effort I have ever seen. Period.

The good news is that this time the search for a DC should be easier than the last time. All a new coordinator will have to do is produce an average defense to show improvement
All hopes turn to next year

Thank Goodness! Pollack and Lou were obvious for quite sometime now. Glad to see the Bengals not being complacent. I was afraid that this run at the end of the season would give them the excuse to run it back next year. But obviously heads had to roll, when Burrow, Chase and Hendrickson had the years that they had and we didn’t even make the Playoffs.

Lous failure was that he was given lousy players that could not execute and had his good players go to other teams

I’m willing to give Zac one more year after the offence he called this season.
I wonder where we would have been if we had a competent OL, we sure as shit win at least one of those close games.
Tobin has to go though if he’s booted out the door I really will believe that the old man wants success before he dies.

Hope they continue the purge with some of the players. Guys like Rankins and Cappa - maybe Pratt, too. Would they be any worse with ADG in Pratt’s place?
I am also hoping the D is improved by the return of healthy Wilson, Turner and Hall.

Finally, now he can rest easy.
