Trey Hendrickson Update

Burrow should pull a Carson if those are the starting DE’s. He will be starring at missing the playoffs for a 3rd consecutive year of his prime.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

Agree, crazy talk. I like Shemar, but as you say he is an unproven rookie with a lot of work ahead of him. Murphy has been a bust so far.

Ossai is the only decent proven pass rusher if we trade Trey.

We should pay him or trade him. We should 1000% not go into the season trying to force him to play on his current contract. Seems like the most Bengals thing to do though.

I don't have a problem with trading him but you better get a starting Edge in return.

I seriously doubt we tag him this year, as he is under contract.

Though, IIRC, we did do it with Tee?

Nevermind, I am remembering wrong.

Yeah, we have to add a proven pass rushing Edge if we do trade Trey for damn sure.

Hell, Milton Williams spends over 50% of defensive snaps on the bench. His best year stats at DT look like the end of the road stats for a guy like Geno Atkins. There's a lot of risk in paying either of those guys high contract with max guarantees. Montaze Sweat has been up and down and battled injuries his career, but at least he averages around 55% of defensive snaps played. Whereas a guy like Trey Hendrickson is averaging about 69% of defensive snaps played since joining the Bengals. Trey is absolutely worth the money and will live up to the guaranteed portion that he's looking for. Those other guys that you presented, I'm not so sure about.

Is it? Here is Crosby who is 28 and just extended. Looks like 60% guarntee for DE 2 years younger. Take a look at the list, it is normal the guarantees are not over 65% and as they age, they get lower and lower percent guaranteed. Take a look for yourself. Watt is a case of cap manipulation. Burns, Bosa and others are less than 55% guaranteed.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

So much drama. JB just got 2 huge contracts for Chase and Higgins, now he should ask demand a trade and not show up to make a point.

Sorry, this is just stupid. Bengals would let him sit out, fine him and not pay him. In 2026, he is still a Bengal and accomplished nothing.

Sounds good Kevin. I, for one, understand you're talking about tagging him after this season. I'm of the belief that when you sign a contract, you fulfill the contract. How many players that have a down year are pounding the table to lower the contract money for the remaining years? Or," I need an extension with less money because my crappy play dictates it."? Never! You sign it. You fulfill it. And I really don't care about the whole argument of, it's sports. A contract is a contract unless both sides agree to change it and as of now we haven't seen that.

I really like Trey and hope we do sign him for longer but he signed the extension which he thought was good at the time.

Clown move.

The weird part though is the team paying people for the past - or the future?

It's like the Flacco wins the superbowl contract to never win again.

I can see a team trying to make up for the past lower pay (especially when structured in a contract as so).

How many more years do we think he will perform at that level? I feel like the Bengals may have offered him a 1 year and he wants more (3).

speaking of trey though, if he doesn't play, the contract year doesn't count and it pushes his free agency out another year (or it's at risk to do so).

how many games would he need to play in order for that to not be the case? i wonder if an "injury" gets to count...

but yeah I'm worried about our defense, I don't know if al golden can do what we need him to do (has to at least be middle of the league rank). we need to have a chip on his shoulder that he has to prove it wasn't just our personnel with lou.

the results will be in the W/L column

So a typical offseason for the Cincinnati Bengals then.

We cut Cappa and others on the last year of they're deal as well as forced Moss and Stone to take pay cuts. Anymore the last year only exists for marginal players. The best want paid market value with guarantees and the worst get cut.
