YES. Maybe a bump in my % or guaranteed pay? YES. Allow me to buy/earn ownership points in the business? YES....

But would he just look at last year and say, sure, I'll pay you double next year just for showing up, regardless of the results? HELL NO. I've transformed this guy's company by completely changing how they work with clients, introduced new products/services, DOUBLED their sales AND increased profitability on those sales by 20%.... And he would still pay me off of what I keep producing.

Sorry, Trey. Take the $28mill/per + incentives and keep going. That's how the real world/business works. It's all incentive pay in real time.

You’re not far off here. But I don’t know if the NFL is structured that 20% is incentives. Trey has earned top 5 DE money that’s not bonus structured. If Cincy can’t work a deal trade him for what they can. There’s the rub. They want too much. Just take the loss Cincy

Without Hendrickson, the Bengals playoff hopes are already over. Their defense is already looking like it will be rough at best, but without your All-Pro sack king? It would be the worst in the league. It's why star players have always had more say and leverage. There's so few of them, they have a massively outsized impact compared to non-stars, and they're so hard/impossible to replace.

Our stalling in rewarding our star players ( except Burrow) has cost us a lot of money.

Compared to other top ED/OLB. The Bengals not only got Trey on a bargain basement FA contract, after he produced for them, they're now not willing to show him any love for their ROI. Even their extension last year was for less APY than any of the others, despite what he's done the last 2 years.

They're simply tight-fisted penny-pinching skinflints who aren't willing to pay an older player, to show any kind of love or to say thanks for over producing because they don't want to take a chance on their ROI going in the tank. See; A Whitworth.

Add in the hypocrisy of asking for top return (because they feel that's what his worth is), while not being willing to pay top (not even near the top) money for the next couple years...because apparently he's not worth that, so what you have is a bunch of dim-witted jagoffs who don't know how to run an NFL franchise with the intent on winning a championship.

You’re somewhat right on what the browns don’t have.  Deshaun got a big money, all guaranteed.  They don’t have the others though.  Players don’t really care much about that though, they are mostly looking out for themselves.  But Garrett and Crosby are the ones who just got recent extensions so the comps are relevant.  Treys agent would be doing him a disservice not pointing treys sack totals compared to theirs.  But his age and run defense are working against him.

We still don’t know the offer or his demands.  I still lean towards the notion the bengals have their final offer, or something really close to it.

And I think watt and the Steelers are heading in the same direction

What are they offering him?

Likely a fair amount less than his actual worth, let alone his own perceived worth. 

Market for Trey should be between 30-35M. 

If i had to take a wild shot in the dark...i'd say they're probably offering around 26M.
