Trey Hendrickson Update
(08-02-2025, 10:36 AM)pally Wrote: Broncos just extended Zach Allen 4 years, $102 million, $69.5 guaranteed. He’s 27, led the league in pressures with 8.5 sacks.

Cut a year off that deal, take 25% off salary and guarantee and sign Trey

Ain’t a snowball’s chance in hell Hendrickson takes that deal
Through 2024

Mike Brown Owner/GM record: 34 years  232-311-4  .419 winning pct.
Playoff Record:  5-9 .357 winning pct.
Zac Taylor coaching record: 6 years 46-52-1 .470 winning pct.
Playoff Record: 5-2 .714 winning pct.

why Trey Hendrickson will continue to dig his heels in for more guaranteed money...and why the Browns oppose it

Jul 27th, Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater signed a 4-year $114 million extension to his rookie contract. $92 million guaranteed over the length of contract, 2025 and 2026 base salaries fully guaranteed at $56 million

Aug 7th in camp Rashawn Slater tore his pateller tendon and is lost for the season

That is the tricky part, both sides have a point.

I saw your post Pally and hoped tou were breaking he signed an extension.  Wink

Now we have Heyward sitting out(in) like Trey to get a new deal.

He will either sign right before the last pre-season game or right after...so I'm not sweating it for a couple of more weeks

Has he done any practice? I know he showed up, but was he practicing?

Just like Ja'Marr last year, makes sense. This is better though with Trey as he just has to rush the passer and not have to get chemistry
and timing going with the QB like a WR does.

Steelers kicker is whining about his contract too...

Trey is in Philadelphia with the team

This is good news. He should be there. They should respect his commitment to be there when he doesn't have to be.

Trey may have been the big winner from last night. Seeing the defense without him should frighten even Mike Brown

Yeah they need Trey asap. Can they at least agree to two years guaranteed, that seems definitely worth the risk for the Bengals in this Burrow window considering this defense lacks playmakers.

They need the double team that Trey draws to free up the other linemen

Slater being younger wasn’t as big of risk. But the Bengals still live in the NFL 25 years ago. These contracts are the cost of doing business. They refuse to bend over in any way and take it. But I keep singing this song…. they just haven’t drafted well mostly 21-23.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

From what accounts i have read the Bengals have a very solid offer on the table in the 40 m range but Tre camp does not seem to be moving from full guarantee and after watching Slater go down with a full guarantee contract plus having Tre under contract, if i was the Bengals im not giving him a full guaranteed contract

x2

We need him badly to salvage any semblance of a D or we can kiss any SB dreams away.

I agree last nights defensive showing wasn't good, and they are going to pay Trey.  Hell they're offering close to $40M per year but both sides are haggling over guarantee money.  I agree with Pally this gets settled in the next 2 weeks.

In regards to the defense, I'm actually glad they played last night w/o Trey.  You have a New DC who's wanting to see players in action.  He's wanting to see what Shamar does in a game....See what Myles does, all up and down the DL.  They're trying out players at different positions.  They have a younger LB corp minus Burkes and Logan.  DB's they didn't start the CB's your likely to see on opening day due to injury.

I still think this defense will be in the Top 15-20 of football.  This is what the pre-season is for.  To see what you have in the players, to see what works and what doesn't vs opposing teams.  I'm definitely not freaking out over 1 night of football.  Just like I'm not going to be completely psyched at the offensive performance from the Bengals either.   There's a lot of players on the Eagles 2nd team that would start for MANY football teams in the NFL.

Honestly, I'm not even sure Trey would have helped that defensive showing....

I thought this as well as was buying the hype of the CB's shutting down Chase and Tee in practice. Then the CB's could not cover anyone last night. I hope you are correct and Golden can get them playing better, but the Eagles 2nd offensib=ve unti schooled our 1st team defense.
